The stock silver shifter ball kinda blends in with the silver painted PT's .

Installed my shifter and it works great! The throws are not as short as I thought they would be, but the shift action is fantastic! The shifter actually sits a little higher and the shift ball is a larger diameter which makes this unit so much more comfortable to use, love it!
To me, the shift ball is what makes this look so good. I just dig that classic hurst look! Here is a pic of mine installed.

SWEET! [8D] [8D] [8D]

The hardest part for me was getting my console out? The cable clips are easier to get off if you remove the front console bracket, 4 screws. Rotate the clips so the flat faces down and pry down on them. They are a bitch! Took about 1 1/2 hours to complete the install, but I was not rushing it.

Nope what you're seeing that looks like shifter bushings are actually replacements for the bracket mounting bushings (on the four corners of the main unit that ties it to the floor). You ditch the old ones but reuse the metal sleeve from each one. The assembly sits on a small lip at the top of each bushing, the metal sleeve goes down over teh bolt like the stock version had 'em, then the washers you see in the pic go on top of that and sandwiches everything down nice and tight. It raises the entire assembly a bit to allow for more clearence under the new longer shift lever.

--

It's not the color of the stock shift knob I didn't like it was the size and lack of craftsmanship that I took issue with. I was one of many folks that ended up with scrapes on my palm and the pads of my fingers because of the mold seams on the stock knob. Annoying as all get out.

--

Aye ptgtcb, that's my dilemma - I like the old school look for the Hurst knob too but with the charcoal interior of a black car it looks a bit odd hehe. To me anyway!

Regarding harder bushings not being included with the Hurst shifter kit for the PT Turbo. I really can't tell there missing compared to the Hurst shifter I had in my N/A PT which had the harder bushings. What is the feedback from those that are installing the "booger" bushings along with the Hurst shifter for the PT Turbo?

PurplePT, I mentioned it in a earlier post above but I installed the Booger Bushings as well when I installed the new Hurst. It takes almost all of the wiggle out of the shift lever. Shifts in general are firmer. Though that has as much to do with the shifter as it does with the bushings. You have to modify one of the small bushings (the one that attaches to through the cable end at the shift lever bottom) to allow for the larger diameter roller bolt supplied with the Hurst, but it took all of 2 minutes to cut the inner lip flush and get it mounted.

I'd recommend the Booger Bushings to anyone with the manual even if they aren't planning on swapping out the shifter itself.

Nope it won't. Like Cal said the stock is either friction fit or friction and glue. Regardless the supplied white ball that comes with the kit is FAR superior to the stock silver ball. Has a much better feel, no seams, and has our actual shift pattern on it (which is a small miracle in itself ).
My shifter knob has the same shifting pattern as shown in the picture posted by ptgtcb

Aye mate, that's the stock knob. Point was no one made a replacement knob with our correct shift pattern on it. If you wanted one with the proper shift pattern it had to be custom made. 'Til this Hurst kit that is.

I have the booger bushings, so when I install the kit, I hope I can use those for the shifter linkage. The stock bushings suck,

I am about to order the booger bushings to go with the Hurst shifter. But I have to tell them if the bushings on the transmission are the same size or if one is a different size to get the right. Can anyone that has installed them on the GT tell me what the sizes are so I don't have to tear the airfilter etc. out take a look at them. Thanks. CJJ
