Anyone out there have an idea on a problem I have?
There are oil spots on my valve cover directly under the throttle body. Whats up with that? Also have developed one heck of a valve train tap. Appreciate any help. Phil |

There's a PCV hose that attaches to the valve cover. It may have come loose. Oil will definitely emanate from there if the hose is not attached. That hose is the source of oil that people find in the stock airbox.

Drag, thanks for your reply. I have a CAI installed on my car.
The hose you are refering to runs to a remote filter that is open to atmospheric pressure on mine. |

Are you sure the oil isn't coming from the PCV filter?

Drag, any oil from the pcv goes into the intake manifold, and burned along with the fuel on combustion. I have an appointment to drop it off at the dealer tomorrow. Hopefully I will know something sometime this week.

Picked up the car. There is a TSB out for valvetrain noise #
0900704. Something about the cam bearings needing to be chamfered on the edges. Evidently it wasn't done during manufacturing. They said the oil leak was caused by the half moon piece of aluminum that sits directly below the v/cover. Beats the heck outa me how it got from there to the top of the v/cover. After giving my car back they then informed me that it would be the last time that they would repair it under warranty. They decided not to honor the warranty any longer due to modifcations that I added to the car. Their biggest gripe was the Forge BOV. Told me that it would effect the entire engine. If there hadn't been a TSB out I really believe that they would have blamed the problem on the BOV. I have a short fuse when it come to ignorance, so I really wasn't to nice about the whole thing. I gave them a copy of the Magnuson-Moss Act. They had no idea of what I was talking about, and really couldn't have cared less when I explained that they were breaking a Federal law. So we went round and round until I told them that I wanted the factory to make the decision concerning voiding the warranty. Well low and behold DC must have told them about the law and that they didn't have a leg to stand on. So needless to say the service mgr. called and kissed my a** about the mistake. I wonder how many dealers pull this on unknowledgeable customers. Phil |
