Hmmm. I want to see better photos of the Trubendz downpipes. I'm not fond of the welds on the Maxfabb DP, though I do like their cat/race pipe downpipe for the PT, which is what they have for the SRTs.

Why? How about some specifics.

I'm thinking about getting a downpipe for the cruizer. In reading up on the subject I see that there is a O2 housing and the cat/downpipe that make up the installation. I have a question. What is the O2 housing? In looking at the stock layout in the shop manual I don't see one there. What does the O2 housing do? Thanks in advance for any information on this. CJJ

The O2 housing is part of the stock exhaust manifold. It is the elbow that has the O2 sensor in it. With some effort it can be replaced with a larger piece resulting in better exhaust flow.

Thank you Ksquared. I see it now. Had to go to a different illustration. The one I was looking at had it hiding under the heat shield. I'm going to have to think about this a bit more. That doesn't look like a job I want to tackle lying under the car. I'm going to have to make a trip to AA Speed and see what they would charge for the install. Maybe next spring. Thanks again. CJJ

Sorry, I can not find the pics, they must have been removed? You guys are right, I probably have been too harsh a critic on the Maxx Fab piece. I work for an aftermarket tuner and performance company and I guess my expectations are a lot higher than most, I even criticize our products. If the unit is the one pictured on the web site then it should and apparently does work fine. To even contradict myself, I posted on another post that the unit looked awesome, but, that was before I saw different pics of the max fab unit which made wonder what piece was the real unit, what ever, end of story.

The only thing that I was trying to say is that there are alternatives out there and you should investigate all of them before you make a decision and that price should not be your only consideration.

The jury is still out on the BTG unit. They do offer a 7 year 70k mile warranty on the CAT and lifetime on the pipes and O2 housing. However it is also only 2 1/2" inlet/outlet and necks down to 2 1/4" to mate with the stock exhaust or their exhaust. I am still not completely convinced that 2 1/2" is as good as 3" but when talking to them they are quite adamant that during their testing the 3" proto type unit did not yeild any sigificant gains over the 2 1/2". They would not give me any HP #'s but did say that they realized 40 ft lbs of peak torque using their o2 housing and DP and free flow exhaust w/SI. They did tell me they spent hours tuning the system and that you need to see how they ported and polished (how they explaned it to me) the o2 housing and DP internally so there is exceptional flow built into their set up. As far as the polishing of the exterior they said that it only cost a few dollars more and is just for looks. I just suggest you call them and ask for specifics.

Trubendz undoubtebly offers the the largest selection of DPs and exhausts, 2 1/2 to 3" in S.S. and aluminized steel and should also be investigated.
Wow, do a search on my name and look what pops up...........this looks like an SRTForums thread

Took a look at the other thread....normally I don't like to get into discussions like this one, but when someone offers a negative opionion on my stuff without having personally seen/handled/installed/tested my stuff...I take take it a little personally.

Quality can be subjective, and it can mean different things to differnt people. My goals for MAXX Fab are to offer affordable parts that last and perform well....parts designed for the everyday driven car. Appearance is not high on my list....functionality, dependabiltiy and performance are. Now when it comes to a paint job, or something cosmetic, looks are tied directly to quality.....with exhaust it's a little differnt....at least in my book.

Polished systems are nice, but have you ever seen one after a month on the road?? I could polish my stuff, but I'd rather not and pass that savings to the customer.

Polished also does not mean the system is built well, especially when it comes to systems made from thin 18 ga stainless overseas or in Canada. Two examples of ploished systems are HP exhaust and DC exhaust for the SRT. The HP has had a few hangers break off taking a chunk of tubing with it, and DC Sports has had some fittment issues (hitting structure under the car). B&B is a $900 system and is advertized as a 3 inch system...........too bad it necks down to 2 5/8 before it splits into two 2 1/5 inch pipes (I've personally seen this and photographed it).
Nice quality there. Buscher, well known in DSM land also builds a system for the SRT.....and doesn't install the needed flex joint unless you ask for it. A $65 dollar option. Without it, 2 systems have broken at the dp flange.

Now lets look at the MAXX Fab stuff. I havne't been in business long (a year) and have 250-300 peices sol

Scott,

What you have said is all true. As a customer your product
is the best bang for the buck, and you are great to work with.

I haven't bought your product, yet, but I've asked you tons of questions and even made special requests. All of which, you answered and even offered some of those special requests. I've been reading through alot of threads regarding those who own your DP and none of them are negative. [?] When I get enough cash, I will get your DP. I know I feel I can get a great quality product with great support. And hey, it's a great feeling knowing that your competition is a big, well known company (BTG).
