Seems like we have a few heads working on this together to try & get the best setup for the least amount of $$$. I like it when a plan comes together...

keep the input coming...

Go to Ebay, the Parts and Accessories area, and put in "ground wires" in the search. You'll be shocked! (pun intended)

Hello to all! I've certainly enjoyed following all the posts and suggestions. Today, I found some left over stereo 4ga copper wire in the garage from one of my son's projects. I had enough to make cables like Mean Greens! My baby sounds and runs even better now that the install is done. I found a bolt on my bench that fit into one of the unused threaded holes in the cylinder block below and to the left of the air box. I didn't daisy chain as I had enough cable and fittings to bring everything to the neg. on the battery. I've got enought left over for one more cable. Do you think it'll help my Hemi Ram any?

What's really shocking is the shipping charges on those kits!

Ian, where on the head did this factory wire go? I washed my car today and looked for the wire you mentioned and lo and behold when I pulled on it it came right up and wasn't attached to anything. Looked around the head but couldn't find where the wire broke off of the ring connector. Couldn't even find the ring connector.[xx(]

Welcome aboard, Musicman

Mean Green....The stock cable goes from the bracket on the passenger fender to the head, just about an inch down from the valve cover gasket. Look about a inch and a half from the passenger side, firewall corner - note the half-round indentation inthe valve cover. Straight down from there, between the gasket and the heat shield, you can feel but not see 2 bolt heads. The higher one, a little to the left is it. Maybe you can feel the ring connecter. You should be able to get a socket on it. I'm guessing a 10mm like everything else.
This would be a good place to hook up a head to battery cable and maybe replace the stock one to the fender. Good luck.......

Well I just finished part of my "hypor ground install" I did not finish because it was getting [u]too </u> cold in the garage. Feet & hands could not take it any more. BTW, car saw 1st snow yesterday. a tad tricky driving with a turbo at 1st...

anyway, did a combo of star & daisy chain wiring. I used some 8 guage "shop wire" I had hanging around, not the really nice stuff. A tad stiff but then everything is stiff when its about 30 degrees outside.
So I ran 8ga from battery to 2nd terminal on body, factory gnd looks good enough to body, short & thick.
then from 2nd gnd to ECU bolt.
then a 8ga from 2nd bolt to engine block (I had some leftover bolts from my 01 GT intake install)
then from engine block bolt to upper intake manifold.
I want to add a wire to the alternator bracket
& possibly to the valve cover near coil if possible.
I may swap 8ga battery to body wire for a high quality 4ga when I get some crimps.
I did not solder any connections, I know my crimps are good... (been crimping & soldering for over 35 years)

put car back together cause it just got too damn cold (dropped to about 20 or so) & I needed it for tomorrow morning. Anyway, 1st thing I noticed was how bright my head light are now. I have the silverstars anyway, but they just seem brighter than I remember.
Pick up was good, idle seemed a bit smoother after the car warmed up.
2nd gear is just nuts!!! I had it up to almost 60 in 2nd & still was not quite at redline!!! [8D]

I plan on using some premium wire down the road when I change a couple things on er. but I can't wait to take it out for a real run. Did I gain HP/torque? don't really know but it seems to run a bit smoother. I only took it out for a couple minutes cause I have to go somewhere in a bit.
I thought you all would like 1st impressions. I was a bit septical about this, I understand the theory behind it but I didn't think it really would make that much difference using stuff I had hanging around from my install days.

Anyway, this could be the new cheap mod for all PT's. not just turbos
