Welcome aboard, Musicman

Mean Green....The stock cable goes from the bracket on the passenger fender to the head, just about an inch down from the valve cover gasket. Look about a inch and a half from the passenger side, firewall corner - note the half-round indentation inthe valve cover. Straight down from there, between the gasket and the heat shield, you can feel but not see 2 bolt heads. The higher one, a little to the left is it. Maybe you can feel the ring connecter. You should be able to get a socket on it. I'm guessing a 10mm like everything else.
This would be a good place to hook up a head to battery cable and maybe replace the stock one to the fender. Good luck.......More proof of the crappy stock cables.
Thanks 2step. [?]

Does anyone think this may help a N/A PT's performance/or fix some amp wine problems?

Yes to both. PT Cruisers seem to have a dirty ground circuit in general so better ground should cure a lot of ills.

This is great if planing to run in a thunderstorm and afraid to be hit by lightning

anyway, This won't do anything in the performance department. This will make you feel safer at a gas station.

A few years back I worked with some Explosives Handling equipment that had those ground straps but later on a message came out from higher HQ saying that the strap is not needed. If is not needed for explosives vehicles, It shoudnt be nessesary for cars other that the ones working with Nitrometane and the body is composite.

Most of the amplifier Whine (rising and lowering of pitch proportional to engine speed) usually is due to inadequate alternate filtering.

Extra grounding in the engine compartment has no negative affects on car streo installations, but may not help here.

I don't see any downside to trying it.

I know this is an old post but I need to clear my conscious. [8]
I should know better than to question you guys. I was skeptical so i did this on my other car that has 246,000 miles on it. I ran one wire to the fender&firewall. Then one to the valve cover and coil/head. All I can say is WOW [?] First start was like a new car, well ok not new but a different car. It would usually start sluggish and idle rough no matter what time of year. The day I did this it was freezing out and it turned over much quicker. It still idled rough for a min or so then smoothed out. When you have a car with this many miles, you know when it has gained a little get~up~n~go. I couldn't believe how bright ALL the lights were. Now the inside turnsignal lights don't dim every every time they flash [?] I think I'll add a wire to the alternator or starter grounds, whichever is EZest. The factory wire from the - post to the tranny & fender were already bigger than the 8ga i used, so i left them alone. So , thanks guys for the info and tips and please forgive me? I would bow down but there is no smiley for that [B)] Now, on to the PT! [?]

It should work fine. In theory it will work on just about any internal combustion ignition fired and or computerized engine that currently has an undersized grounding system or one that is badly designed. In reality it is just trial and error to see how much if any it helps your particular application.

[:I] OK. I installed a complete daisychain with 8 gauge. Have not noticed any brighter lights, smoother idle........etc. Seems like one of those seat-of-the-pants judgements that might help some cars and not others. Am sticking with Stage I, AMX up, K&N and maybe some day WGA and gauges. Exhaust mods seem to be important if you are counting a 10th or 100ths at the strip but not much other than that and sound change. If I'm wronf, would like to see some stats.

Still [8)]
