So any and all claims are lies? How do you begin to know the difference? I never trust manufacturer's claims. Independent claims are more realistic and the hyperground testing was done by Car Audio and Electronics and an independent tuner shop. Neither has any any thing to do with the hyperground. Hyperground systems have been sold in Japan by Honda and other Japanese manufacturers as an option for years.

Just for kicks and giggles I did the hyperground setup on three cars. I figured for a whopping $5 out of pocket I could pick up enough heavy gauge wiring and connectors (especially since my local car audio shop was interested in my findings so they only charged me that amount) what could it hurt?

The vehicles in question:

2004 PT Cruiser Turbo Lite, Stage 1, VAK hardpipes, 2005 composite intake, magnecor ignition wires, BTG cat back dual exhaust, TurboXS DSBC, 14,000 miles on the odometer

1999 Mazda Miata, 1.8L DOHC L4 engine, AEM intake, Magnecor ignition wires, Ansa Silverline dual exhaust, 61,000 miles on the odometer

1992 Chevrolet Camaro, 3.1L V6, Accel ignition wires, twin snorkel intake from the 5.7L V8, 72,000 miles.

All vehicles are in tune with no more than 5,000 miles on any spark plugs, ignition wires, and in the case of the Camaro, rotor and distributor cap. All vehicles had at least 4 points of contact added from the negative terminal of the battery. In the case of the PT it was done up just like Mean Green's original post showed.

Results: $5 gone and a couple hours of my time. That's it. Not a single difference noticed with any of the cars in any way, shape or form. Lights all appeared the same, idle feels the same before/after on all three, no difference in fuel economy, nothing noticeable in acceleration, etc.

How do I explain the positive results, anecdotal or measured, that others have experienced?[:I] I don't know!!! And honestly, I don't really care. It's your car, if you want to do it then by all means go ahead and give it a shot. You won't hurt anything, and it's not like you're going to have to skip a meal, or sell your dog, to obtain the parts. If you feel something, if you think you feel something, then good for you and don't let anyone take that away from you. If you get the same results I did then at least you've spent some time bonding with your car, have gotten to know your way around the engine bay a bit more, and hopefully learned a thing or two (like you need to clean your valve cover or something!).

The only theory that makes any sense is that a grounding problem existed... maybe even a tiny one.

IE: If CPS, TPS, O2, or other sensor did not have a good ground the computer was getting slightly inaccurate data. Improve the data, improve the results.

Otherwise: Shiny connectors and Bright Colored Wires snaking around under the hood Look Really Cool. Considering how much people spend on Chrome Plated Dipstick Handles and designer radiator hoses, hypergrounding is not a big deal.

=============================
My old TR4-A had a grounding problem, the taillights were intermittent, but thats because rust and bondo are not good conductors. I fixed it by running a 'earthing' wires to the tailight housings.
(Why, yes it did have Lucas electrics. Why do you ask?)

The '03 GT did have a grounding problem. At night with the lights on anytime you hit the brakes the lights would dim. I even sent it into the dealer and they told me it was a bad ground. Funny how they knew it, said they fixed it and I still had the same problem. Only after I did the hyperground did the light dimming stop and the car ran better. The bad stock ground was affecting more than just the lights.

Lights dimming when hitting the brake pedal and then no longer doing so after adding a hyperground setup is sort of difficult to argue with, don't you think? But then you're so cynical that your mother could tell you delivery was painful and you'd just nod and say "uh-huh, whatever". None of my cars were exhibiting any sort of electrical issue so perhaps I shouldn't be surprised that I saw no change. But, if Mean Green says he saw a change I have no reason to doubt him at all. If he says he noticed an improvement in his cars performance, again I have no reason to doubt him.

My headlights dim when I roll the window up or down, maybe I'll try the hyperground thing. I just read that Mitsubishi EVO's come with hyperground wires stock. If a manufacturer puts this type of wiring on their vehicles then it's most likely to work, needless to say all the personal tetimonials everyone has given.

Where's your proof that your car runs fine, your butt dyno?
