Lee,
If you can get the more expensive ones even better!<img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle> But like DSM_mike says: "Boost is adictive" and if you have that controller in the cockpit, It is too easy to overboost in the heat of the race. Remember "Fast and the Furious"? again, if you want to buy the more expensive ones, it is even better. If you want to get another make, It will work the same way, jut try to make sure that the one you buy "IS NOT" a bleed air type or you may experience slow boost response. Any boost controller will work but The ES is the cheapest I have seen and it is reliable. The other Hallman series now have been redesigned with a new softer spring and a ceramic ball inside the controller making it more responsive than the ES, but the ES is the best seller and 7 second cars ar using it. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> BTW, In a WRX website, I saw this same controller but with the ceramic ball inside instead of the metal one that it came with mine. Also now they are selling it chrome plated instead of the black paint that mine had. I guess that is why they are selling it now for $50.00. Also, like a pure backyard mechanic, I am testing another way of installing the controller. I will make public my findings when I am satisfied with the results. More to come from the Caribean. Ian |

Ian,
You are right in saying that boost is addictive. Culprat |

cop Tzer,
It spikes to 16 PSI and settles at 14 in less than half a seccond. I was told that the factory fuel system is good up to 16 PSI, I guess that is at 100% duty cycle. I looked at the rail and can't find a place to install a fuel regulator. Accel and MSD sell injectors that will fit in our cars, but the fuel regulator issue still needs to be resolved. about the times, thanks. I am sure that you will be able to break my numbers. I still have the stock exaust. and no other mods in the car other than the boost controller and the intake silencers removed. Ian |

Well got my boost controller ,today ! Pulled my strut bar off to paint and then remount solenoids on bar and figure out the best way to clamp controller close to solenoids. Can't give up my handling if I'm increasing my hp !

Adjusted my boost controller ,today . It's made the car definately quicker ! But I had a code pop up . P1188. the car was running fine it stumbled a couple times around 4500 rpms then check engine lite. I checked my 2001 docs no code matching and also online @ptdiy. Any one have 2003 manuals and access to this code ?

Yeah, I got the 2k3 Service manual. I will look the code up when I get home today, about 2 Hours from now.
This interests me because I just ordered the boost controller too, and really would like to avoid throwing a code. This makes me a little weary of doing it now. Matt Edited by - Chipmunk on 04/07/2003 14:23:49 |

Well, unfortunatly the Service manual does not give any list of codes or descriptions. You will need a DRBIII controller to decipher this error code.
If you disconnect the battery for about 5 min, does the code go away? Matt 2003 GT Cruiser |
