My daily driving setting is 10-PSI constant (with a spike of 14-PSI) but when in fourth gear it goes to 14-PSI constant.
I have had mine bounced to 18 PSI and even once to 20 but the Check engine light never came on. What I think that triggered the light is that it stayed at 16-PSI mark for a long period. If you see that at your setting you get engine hesitation at the 5000 RPM, lower the boost a little and it will go away. I will be going to the strip on Thursday for a little more R&D for the optimum PSI setting. It's not always the 15-PSI mark. More to come, Ian |

Matt sorry I'm didn't answer you more specifically . First my vacuum line is less than 6" long . Second my boost gage is tapped in a line going to intake. Third even backed off the car is much quicker, and boost climbs almost instantly . I just installed the "ghetto intake" and took car out ! I'm backed off 1/4 turn cc from where I had the problems yesterday . Boost climbs quickly now to about 13 backs down to 10 holds steady. No spikes today. I'm gonna leave it alone for awile and see.

Here's a better pic of the boost controller setup and 1 of my "ghetto intake" I still need to "shield" this somehow !

Your "Ghetto" intake looks just as good as some of the K&N bolt on kits that they sell.

I can't take credit for it another forum member nbr10 from Canada is the originator of the "ghetto intake" . I just "copied". Jeff

Flashbk2,
Where did you get the stuff to make that intake, it really looks good. Matt 2003 GT Cruiser |

Matt see post in this forum titled "Ghetto Intake" by nbr10 from Canada . I just copied his setup. I have about $52.00 in the whole deal, bulk of that in the k&n filter. I have an old child hood friend who runs a small mopar junkyard . As a matter of fact it's about a 60 mile round trip and that trip is where I tuned my boost controller yesterday. FYI where I'm set now I'm not seeing any spikes with this intake I pulling about 13 lbs wot it only drops to around 10 and pulls like a mother! Love it, no more tinkering for a while ! Man does this thing spool up quick now....you just board it and flys up to 13 lbs. I broke the tires loose in 3rd! It could have been ice, lol! Thank you Ian and thank you nbr10 !

Loose the bassani for a straight through muffler and you will noticea big difference.
You dont want any baffles in a turbo exhaust. ![]() 3" Turbo Back Prototype, Greddy EGT, HKS SSBOV, GReddy-e01 Boost controller, Blitz Turbo Timer. |

Ok well I thought I was done tinkering....posted p1188 again . this time it was 3-4 minutes after being on "boost" . I was cruising @ 62 on cruise control and had just gone up a slight incline on the highway ! After that the car stumbled a bit then recovered. After I arrived home while I was opening the garage door and car was idling in neutral I heard the idle was noticably the raise ,lower ,stumble and recover. I already have an appointment today about my air conditioning so I'm gonna disconnect/remove controller and leave code and let DC look into it. Exhaust Depot my bassani is baffleless. I was wondering if the oil from pcv or bov going back to intake is causing the problem . What about me installing your oil setup ,do I also need an auxilary bov as you have ? Would you like me to be your PT test mule? Where is the second hose in your setup coming from or going to? I would have a problem going without a muffler as I work from 20:00-0430am and live in a residental neighborhood . Plus my PT is my daily transportation. Matt my boost is connected to vacuum hose going to rear of intake. Let you all know the saga .

Just a guess on the error code...
If you were on Cruise, and on an Incline; this may be a clue. I don't have the controller installed, and don't have a boost gague, but from what I read here the boost peaks at higher gear ratios? If this is so, the incline placed a bigger strain on the engine, at a close final gear ratio to the rear wheels. The cruise tries to maintain speed by increasing throttle, and sending signal not to downshift. You probably create a situation of "lugging". It is my guess that this condition would spike the Computer, by sending a signal that "looks" like an overboost problem, but is actually a sustained low vacuum condition, or something comparable to it. Sustained Low Vacuum could be interpretted as an exhaust restriction. This may be a firmware problem, where DC did not allow a range of data wide enough to allow operation at a higher boost level than stock; over "real world" driving conditions. It would be interesting to see if the same error occurs while on level conditions and not under cruise control. Also, the installation of an additional vacuum/boost relay to bypass the Hallman controller may be an option to pursue. It would only need one (possibly two) additional "T" fittings to either divert the pressure through the Hallman controller when activated, or shunt it back to the original solenoid 2 when not needed. Just a thought. I have nothing to base this on other than speculation on what I think is going on. 2003 Onyx Green PT-GT Stock (so far...) |
