I had pretty much the same idea, except mine used abs tubing instead of metal tubing. Abs is the black plastic tubing, not pvc.It would look stock as the stock one is black plastic. Plus, abs is pretty cheap. One of these could probably be made for about $20-$30.

Well, I dont have any hard numbers, but the butt dyno says yes. However, this is not something I would reccommend to those who have not modded before and are afraid of messing something up. I would say do all the other easy things first and gain some confidence, seeing as this mod is not easily reversable. If you arent afraid of modding, have at it, it is definitly worth the 30-45 min. Take a close look at it once you have it out, you will see just how restrictive it is.

Don't worry about me. I'm no stranger to mods. :-D

BTW, I too had a Talon once. It was a 97 TSI AWD and quite modded as well. I was up to about 270HP by the time I decided it wasn't practical enough. I wish I would have kept my old EVC IV out of that thing!

I'll let you guys know how my custom intake comes along. I'm piecing it together this weekend...

Sory to be redundant, do you guys actually leave both holes in the airbox just open to the engine heat without further ducting? if not , what is the ducting method of choice? have looked for the modding the gt thread but can't find it. thanks for your help
