OK....has anyone managed to come up with a procedure for these damn things yet?? I've been scoping out the engine bay for a while now and am still in the dark. I have the bov that i ran on my VW 1.8T, it's a turbo smart type-I perfect fot the range of psi our turbo can produce with a controller or not. I'm trying to locate the stock DV, and i know it has to be between the intake filter and the throttle body, plus it has to be near the filter b/c it's so damn loud!!! I'm also having trouble finding the boost line running from the turbo to the DV. Does the boost line run from the turbing to the I/C then to the intake tract or straight?
I'd imagine that judging by where people are mounting the boost controller, that would have to be a boost line that would be good to tap in to. Also there would be lots of room for a secure mounting position.... ANY DAMN SUGGESTIONS, I CAN'T TAKE THIS!!!![xx(] RIP-'01 PT Bruiser- to many mods to list *NEW*-'03 GT Cruiser- Custom CAI setup... |

DUDE,take a chill pill LoL!
I was gonna ask this also. Doesn't our system dump back into the intake track? to recirculate? If we bypassed this recirculation, won't the ECU fart a code? What's the line coming outa the intake tube down near the turbo? it runs up beside the the intake tube, then back into a group of vacuum/pressure lines. Poor, poor us. We'll have to get one of those riceboyz things. You know the ones. It's a fake BOV. Makes the same noise from a speaker! i don't think the ecu will flash a CEL....i know it's a prob on 1.8T b/c of MAF sensor positioned right behind the filter. Yes the eco will compensate for the air being released but this really is not problematic... so many damn prob's. I'm thinking to tap into the same pressure line that people have been installing a boost controller on... what i really need is service manual!

Whoaa there CopTzer,
Did you totally miss my BOV installation post???? http://www.ptcruiserlinks.com/forum/...?TOPIC_ID=1916 Exhaust Depot shipped it yesterday, so I should have it Wed or Thurs. I decided im going to put it the same place where he puts his on his SRT-4. The rubber hose before the intercooler. ![]() Matt 2003 Electric Blue GT Cruiser , Hallman EX MBC, Silencers Removed, Coming Very Soon: HKS SSQV BOV Edited by - Chipmunk on 04/22/2003 20:40:23 Edited by - Chipmunk on 04/22/2003 20:43:25 |

no, i caught it. IMHO, i don't think it's the best place to install it, especially if you're gonna do winter driving. But by all means tell us how it works out. I'd be really concerned about water getting in to the system in heavy rain, or clipping it on a big bump, or getting snow caught up in it. The last thing i need is hydro lock b/c i was too hasty installing a bov....but good luck<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Well, Im going to turn it so that it sits on the top side of the pipe, which makes it pretty high off the ground. Wont be driving my car in the next winter, just not worth it.
