Has anyone super charged thier turbo? Is this even possible? And if so... is there one for the turbo on the market now?

No gearhead here but i think they are two different animals. Hopefully someone here will correct me BUT i think Supercharging uses the crank to force feed the motor air. Turbocharging uses exhaust gas to force feed the motor air? HELP!

It takes horsepower to drive a supercharger, it does NOT take horse power to driver a Turbo. They both blow air/fuel into the engine. There are a few SC kits for the Cruiser, but DC has done a nice job with the GT turbo. Don't waste the $3500 plus and get a super charger.

it would be way too hard, and cost a pretty penny to get a blower and turbo to work together.

You got to pick one or the other.
[:I] You can always add a nitrious oxide system. [^] |

Compound supercharging has been done before, but as it has been mentioned, it is not cheap. The most recent example I can think of is the mr2 from turbo magazine. It is not a simple as slapping a supercharger on there and driving off. You would need standalone engine management, countless hours of tuning, lots of time, $$$, and patience. You would probably need a new hood, you would definitly need a major upgrade to the fuel system, and if I were doing it, I would probably make that engine bullet proof before I went ahead with the sc. You might have to upgrade the drivelineto handle the extra power. BTW, I dont think anybody sells compound supercharging kits.
All the cars I have seen with this are completly custom made. All this being said, if this is done right, it will OWNZ all! You can have instant boost off idle, which would spool the turbo extremly fast.Disengage the sc after say 2500 rpms, and run a good 30 psi off of the turbo. I think this is one mod that would defintly void your warranty. Its not worth it to most people, but if you have the $$$, go for it! I give mad props to anybody who gets this working right. Mike

For the $$$$, it would be easier to turbo a V6 implant or just replace the rear axle with a second GT drivetrain.[}
