Nice choice Ian.

I have been studying tire choice for myself at Tirerack.com, and I just ordered a set of Avon Tech M500 tires in the stock, 205/50/17, size. They're ultra high performance summer spec. They were ranked 2nd best in that category after the BFG's you selected (out of 39 tires). I was tempted by those BFG's too, but the Avon's were rated as quieter in the reviews and tests, which is important to me. The Tire Rack rep. agreed with my selection after hearing my criteria. I'm not familiar with Avon, and ususally like to stick with the brands I know and trust, so we'll see. The rep told me that they are an English company bought by Cooper Tire a year or two ago.

P.S. Anybody want a good deal on one near-new stock Goodyear? I had to replace a tire recently when I had one of the originals develop a sidewall crack - I got a pro-rated warranty for manufacturers defect. It was bad timing because I knew I was only a few months away form replacing the complete set, but I didn't want to replace with the Goodyears or spend the money at that time.

The first thing I thought of Ian's new tire was that it kinda looked like PTCHIX's new tires. Cool looking and what does it matter where it was bought, if it does the job and bought at a great price, then more power to a wise shopper![?]

Ian, do you still run the stock GT rims? If so, did they have any trouble mounting the 215-45's? I like the 215-45 but typically they require a wider rim than 6" and that has kept me from going that direction.

The installer certainly did read the tire inflation chart on the door. Glad you caught that quickly and got them pumped up where they belong.

I will also state my appreciation for your contributions to this forum. You have provided real solid data and information and I appreciate it.

Take care

Like you can see in the "Actual" Pictures.
You can see that they fit just like stock.

Excuse the dirty car or the huge picture. We just whent thru a lot of rain and almost a storm hit. I promisse to change the pictures to a smaller size and a cleaner car [8D]

In this picture you can see how wide the tire is:

Again don't pay attention to the dirt!

Ian
