Default New Shoes for My PT!

I finally decided to get new tires for my ride.

My criteria was Traction AA, Temp A, Treadwear Better than Stock.

I found it in the BFG G-Force KDW.

I stumbled with them in Costco when I was looking around.
I was tired of my car feeling like an old car, And, Of course, It would [8)] every time I accelerated from a dead stop.

This tires are a little wider than stock (215-45-17) but according to the BFG computer, they fit with only loosing one mile per hour at 65 (Dash Show 65, Reality 64). For me it was not a biggie.

They look so mean [?] and the car looks so wide!.

There is no rubbing anywhere. The only downfall was that the installer only filled the tires with 35 PSI all around. The car felt like it had an ton of cinder blocks in the trunk.
The engine felt slugish and it felt like steering a Mack Truck.

I stopped at the nearest Gas station with an air hose and pumped it up to 40 PSI all around. WOW [?] what a change!!!!

The handling was incredible and the best part was... You slam the loud pedal and the car jumps almost like an AWD car!!! I havn't been able to make the tires chirp! and this is on the street! I can't wait to try the car on the strip.

The tires have a perfect 10 in handling and a 10 in wet traction! I have gone thru water puddles and I can't feel any tire hydroplaning like the old ones.

I love them . The funy thing is that I didn't know what where they before I purchased them. They where the only ones that could be installed in my PT at the time.

this is the BFG site with more info about them:

I didn't even know that they even existed...

Are they the same size as our factory PT tires?

you went to costco and bought the only tire they had
that would fit.

it's fatter than the OEM and you wonder why it
feels more sluggish with the correct psi of air in it.

you stuff 40 psi in it and claim all is now fixed.

glad your happy, but your criteria seems to be anything
costco sells,

do you buy Fram oil filters at Walmart also ??

Hey Mr.2U,

Before you start your flame war with Ian, consider this:

1) Ian was one of the FIRST people to modify a GT and report his findings.

2) Look at the number of posts Ian has made and offered sound advice.

So, before you start blabbing away, watch what you say before you say it.

BTW, I do not know Ian personally. He just offered his experience for the rest of us to know.

FYI: the recommended tire pressure for the stock Goodyear Eagle RS-A 205/50/17 tire is 38 psi, not 35 or 40. I, too, found that a 40-44 psi tire pressure made my 215/50/17 Yokohama Avid V4S tires act "normal."

I guess you are correct... G-Force Tires are cheap stuff...
That is why they are speed rated to 189MPH and have a perfect traction in wet or dry conditions... Next time I will buy them in a Specilty tire shop full price.

In the oil department, Ihave used Synthetic since first oil change and MOPAR Turbo specific Filter. But then again... I should try your idea.

O well... Back to the silent world of just reading... Now I remembred why I stoped Posting.

i am glad you add to the info on this forum, and
the tires you found are worth showing and
writing about.

but your story was funny,
You leave the house with all these techno tire stats,

I thought the next part would be all your shopping,
and detective work.

Instead you go straight to costco and buy the only tire they
have,

If they only had a firestone, you would be writing about them.

thats funny

Strange I dont find it funny or even amusing. I think we should avoid personal attacks and discuss the merits of his tire choice. I dont like the size and not sure it even properly fits the GT stock rims. I sure dont care where he buys it though!![8)]
