Default lowering GT

Who do you take your GT to install the lowering springs?

Other than an alignment, what else is done besides swapping out the springs? I heard you need to trim a rubber stop pad???

What is the preferred spring choice?
Progress, Eibach, etc....???

Thanks, from a newbie!!!!

I would go with the eibach.

Inside the spring there is a bumper that prevents the car from bottoming out on to the strut. Being that the springs are lower, the car will hit the stops. So you have to cut the bumper stop in half. Its easy.

1.6" drop up front, 2" in the rear. I have them listed on my site.

I had my Eibachs installed by a tire store here in my little town. It's a chain of tire stores (Les Schawb) throughout Oregon and Washington and they have a good reputation for their work. I had to buy the Eibachs through them so I had to pay a little more, but I have a good warranty. They installed Eibachs on my GT and my '01 PT.

Received my Eibachs yesterday. Got 'em on Ebay for $217, including shipping. Installed the rears (since those go in so easy) in about an hour. Going to AutoZone to 'free rent' the strut spring compressor (AutoZone #27036). Will put the fronts on this weekend, including a set of SPC #81260 Camber Kit strut bolts. Then off to Les Schwab or Sears for an alignment.

PT2NV....Do you have a pic of your GT lowered front and back yet? If so could you send it to crazy_cruzr@cox.net?
Thanks. My Eibach's are due to arrive today. Hopefully will be able to put them on Sunday.

Well I installed the Eibach Pro Kit on my GT this past weekend. Had one issue with the left front spring hitting the plastic wheel well liner when the spring compressed and uncompressed after hitting a bump or taking a hard right turn which compressed the front left spring. We had to grind down the plastic liner inside the wheel well a little bit. Has anyone else ran into this problem? I have some pics on www.mypersonalpages.com/kjaeger/webpage_pt.htm I'll update the page with more when I can.

I could hear it every time the spring compressed/uncompressed. Plus once we jacked it back up we could see the scuff marks on the spring...a dead giveaway! [?] I'm getting the alignment done today so I'll find out if I need any type of alignment kit for it.

That is really strange. It looks like the front is about the same as my H&R's and I don't have any rubbing problems. I haven't done an alignment yet.
