Default WHEEL SIZE / 17x8 ?

Thinking of a Motegi track lite w/ 35mm offset. Does anyone run 17x8's? Do they fit, especially on the front? Looking at 225x17x45 tires - F1's. Lowered w/ Eibach's.

I had that question also. I was thinking of 235x17x45 though. I'm I wrong in think that puting a shorter tire on the car woould reduce MPG.

The 17X8-35 will work perfect on the GT. The stock rims are a 17X6-35 and on the GT vert, 17X7-35. But since you are going 8" wide, go for the 235/45/17. They will fill the whole wheel well as good as you can without using wheel spacers. I run 225/45/17 on my GT vert' which is as big as I can really go on my 7" wide wheels.

Tire Size Comparison.....Stock vs. Plus Size

Specification/ Sidewall/ Radius/ Diameter/ Circumference/ Revs/Mile
205/50-17...... 4.0in..... 12.5in..... 25.1in...... 78.8in............ 804
235/45-17...... 4.2in..... 12.7in..... 25.3in...... 79.6in............ 796

Actually for all intents and purposes (MPG), the tire sizes are the same.

FYI, I had a set of Mille Miglia Evo5 on my 01. When I got my 03 GT they wouldnt clear the calipers on the front. The Mille's were 35mm offset, but the 5mm wider front calipers screwed that up. Depending on the thickness of the spoke it may not clear even with the right offset. The stockers barely clear the caliper edge.

Actually the stock Goodyears RSA's are slightly oversized. Closer to a 215x50x17. dia.

I ended up w/ a set of Bridgestone Potenza G009's in 215x50x17. Car rides great & looks really good. I'll post pics when I get the car cleaned up... we still have winter up here...

I just mounted 235/40/17 Kuhmo SPT tires on my Motegi DPK wheels (35mm off set). they fit fine, hit nothing. and the tires are SENSATIONAL - great handling and braking! tom

I have 215/50/17 Yoko all seasons directional tires on stock GT wheels and I love them. Great handling over stock badyears as well as better ride comfort, increased grip in wet and dry, and they are quieter too! I think the slighty bigger tire looks better too!
