Default Sway Bar for Newbies

If you are new to this website you should know that your PT GT was sold to you without something... your rear sway bar. The company line is the "twist axle" in the rear serves the same purpose and by beefing the "twist axle" up, the "external supplimental sway bar" is unnecessary. I approached my dealer and questioned their integrity by not selling a car as posted...they put it on free.

The sway bar is critically necessary for handling when the car is loaded. Similar to the large vans that are now being found to be unsafe, when the PT is loaded heavily in the back...the twist axle solution falls appart!

Do yourself a favor....do a sit in until you have a whole car for your money; it might just save your life!!!

I guess your a lucky one then. Apparently your service rep. didn't read his TSB. Many of us have already tried this approach with no results. They ordered my parts while i was there, made my appt. then when i showed up for the install a DC rep was there with the service rep and handed me a copy of the TSB[xx(]. Whatcha gonna do?[:I] Congrats on your freebie! NJOY! & WELCOME aboard[^]

Actually my negotiations started with the Technical Service Bulletin.
In reallity DB didn't beef anything, they found that higher spring rates in an unloaded car gives "adequate roll resistance" they just didn't figure what would happen when there is a load on the springs!

My local DB service rep (company man) also said no!

My dealer, though, wanted the ability to sell me another car again. I let him know that I had purchased my car because of his implied integrity. That meant that a car should come with ALL four wheels, and...by the way a sway bar when posted on the sticker. The local paper has a bitch section just for such things.

My dealer thought it over and counted the number of unsold PTs on the lot and .....he invited me back for a free install of the factory sway bar.

Bottom line...get the bar! It makes as much difference in the handling as Eibach springs (Huge), and if you are ever carrying weight you may well need the ability to turn under control in a panic situation to save your life!

So does anyone have part numbers for the Addco front (1-inch) and rear (3/4 inch) bars? I have written twice to them . . . no response.
Any assitance would be greatly appreciated, as I no longer have the personal fortitude to battle the dealer any longer.

Sorry here's what I have on my invoice from truck performance.com and addco 1.00k2-072-1u (description 02-072-01-16) and 1.00k2-077-1u(description 02-077-01-12). I don't know which is the part number but I'm running these on my GT ( were recycled from my '01 before trading in).
