Cal I didn't think you or Kirby were critical . However of the 3 of us I @ least have experience with KYB's in a cruiser . That's where I base my knowledge. You both obviously have the same with Koni's. I just didn't think KYB's should be shot down based on how they performed on another vehicle. There are @least 5 other's running KYB's and feel they also got improved handling over stock in a cruiser.

I didn't want to demean the KYB shock...just that the one available for our PTs isn't even their best shock. GR-2 is a semisoft shock for sedans and the like. It could be in this case that the stock shock is so bad that even an upgrade to a tollerable shock is better.

My experience has been that you get what you pay for. A great shock will be more than twice the improvement in overall handling as spring replacement. Shock warehouse will ship the konis for $500 and they pay the freight. If you buy a set of Eibachs for $220 + freight you are at aproximately 1/2 the shock cost. With their lifetime guarantee you will never spend money here again.

(Own your car 5 years: $500 divided by 60 = $8.31 per month.)

Kevin you are lowered correct? Did you trim the front /rear bump stops when lowering ? How much are you dropped ? If you give this info I can give you my 2 cents for your problems ,having been there/ done that ! By the way are you going to Wings/Wheels cruise?

Progress 2.0" drop(says the box) Rear bump stops not trimmed from the looks of them. Instructions recommend front ones being trimmed in half and i think that is what the installer said he did. It's only the front that bangs over the slightest bump.[:I] I'm talking manhole indents on the street like one inch deep LoL![:0]

Ok sounds like front wasn't trimmed enough and back should definately be trimmed. What your doing in the back is probably slamming the bump stop in the rear and that's what's slammin your arse. The stop left untrimmed is limiting the travel of the shortened spring. Check your paper work for the springs see what's recommended . I think I trimmed about 1/2 of the rear bump stops off with my 2.0" drop on my old cruiser. That should allow the rear some travel so your not getting slammed. As for the front it's a lot tougher to see/get @. When I lowered mine I had a rear shock fail and Chysler ones were on national backorder so I went with KYB . A word of caution if you go KYB and hit those holes you're gonna get a quick hard jolt but only one it won't wallow around.

Thanks for the info. I have KYB GR2 on my Eibach lowered Avenger. The ride is good but as you said the first rebound after a bump took a bit to get used to. So, what's the concensus on the GT shocks? Are the Koni's the way to go?[:I] For $8.20 a month, I guess I could cut back on the monthly beer allowance a tad[^] Naaa....[?]

btw- shockwarehouse does not list anything for the GT

I should say sorry, it looks like Tokico has released their Performance shock for about 1/2 the Koni Tag (should be a good one). Look at shox.com
