Default 245/40/18 on 2006 Turbo?

we are buying Montegi DPK chrome 18 x 8 wheels and want to run Kumho SPT 245/40/18 tires. our GT has been lowered about 1-1/2" front and rear. many Cruisers run 235/40 and appear to have no problem, but is anyone running a wider 245/40 (with a cross-section of 9.89")??
any problems or comments on the wider tire.
thanks, tom and marj

I am not sure, but I would image that as long as it was only the rear, and the rim gained more width towards the outside ( the 2" of extra rim width goes mostly away from the car not inward) Then it might be ok. The front might be more of a problem as the inner clearance during hard turning might cause rubbling. You might have to go staggered. Someone else might know more.

You know that your rolling diameter is going to be larger right. A stock 16" rim with 205/55 tires are the same approximate rolling diameter as a 17" 245/40 size.(around 25") You are adding an extra inch going to 18"

I run 225/50's on my stock 16X6 inch rims and am lowered 2" and have had no rubbing yet that I have noticed.

we did try!
but the 245/40 tires hit the spring seat. we then mounted 235/40/18 tires and they fit perfectly! lesson learned!!
