Default Michelin hydro edge road feel

I have a set on my 2004 pt touring edition with a turbo lite. the size is 205/55/16. I have about 30,000 miles on them and have noticed that now that the tires have worn down just a little i get a lot more road feel , I run 34 psi front and back. I thought it was a balancing problem sp I had all for balanced with the road force machine. It seems to be the most noticable from 60 to 70 on the interstate. mainly the ones with asphalt on them. If I am driving and move out of the lane groove it will become less...and taking it on other roads off the interstate they are smooth. Has anybody out there with the same tire and size noticed this as the tires get more miles on them. It is not what i expected from this tire. When they were new they were smooth...with a little tire noise...

I assume you replaced the tires after the stock ones wore out, and you have 30,000 on these, so maybe 60,000 on the PT overall? Could be your shocks.

Actually I got rid of the Goodyears after 9,000 miles...They were crap. I have been told by a few tire stores that because it is a 55 series tire it will pick up more road feel and that the tread design/a directional tire...will pick up more road imperfections...like rain grooves ect...

I hear what you're saying about the original GY tires - I got rid of mine at 3,000 miles. They just flat scared me on wet roads.

About the same time I needed new tires on my Caddy CTS - ended up putting HydroEdges on the CTS & GY TripleTreds on the Cruiser. The tread pattern is very similar - the TripleTreds may be a bit more aggressive. Anyway, have about 15,000 miles on both now & thus far both are great tires - quiet, good ride and excellent traction and handling for mileage tires.

I put the Hydroedge's on mine I am quite pleased. They are very quiet on most surfaces and handle extremely well.

I thought that feeling the road was a good thing?

Or are you talking Vibration?

Feeling the road is good if you like it...It is not a vibration because if i go on newly resurfaced roads it is smooth as silk. I guess at age 52 I am looking for a smoother ride..dont get me wrong the tire is great especially in the rain and i will keep it on my PT...Put when it is time to replace I will go with a little softer and less agressive tread...

Ok... so probably a harmonic between the aggressive tread and some road surfaces.

Have you tried varying your speed? (Does it just keep getting worse as you speed up? Or does it only occur during a specific speed range)

Or... Have you tried varying tire pressure? A reduction to 30-32 psi might smooth things out and not put too much pressure on your gas mileage.

Seems to be most noticed at speeds of 65 to 70. I have not played around with the air pressure yet. I run 34 all the way around.
