Default rear sway bar

FYI my 03 window sticker said rear sway bar but than the car did not have it. I took it to the dealer and they installed it no questions asked.....stating that if it was on sticker than they have to install one. so check your cars

Don't have the GT, but this has been discussed numerous times. Chrysler "supposedly" put the sway bar inside the axle, or built the axle incorporating the bar into it. Many owners complained, some, like you, have gotten (talked) the dealer into puting one on. If Chrysler itself gets involved, your claim that you don't have one would probably have been turned down. Consider yourself lucky.

I had an 03 and asked about the rear sway bar and was shown a DC letter to dealers refusing to reimburse them for the bar or installing it. Letter said the bar was inside the axle and was put on the Maroney sheet by error. It also went on to say that it was the dealers liability to add the rear sway bar as it was not an authorized MOPAR add on to the 03 and newer GT PT's!!

Interesting letter. I was told by DCX that one shouldn't use an after market sway bar. However, I have yet to hear any report a bad problem with them.

I am considering adding a tow kit to my '03. Is there any reason why a tow kit would or would not want to change my mind about a sway bar?

In '03 DCX eliminated the rear sway bar saying it was now intregrated into the rear axle. Don't let them fool you. The part numbers for the rear axle for '01-'02 and '03 on up are the same part. It was a cost cutting thing by DCX. There is no intregrated sway bar for '03 on up. I know lots of people who have added the rear sway on the '03 on up models and are very happy with the improved handling. Go for it.

My question is whether or not adding a rear sway bar would interfere with a tow kit. I don't really peak much under the car except to fill air in the spare.

Sway bar will not interfere.
