I have heard that the discs are somewhat soft and often need to be replaced at about 50,000. Replacement drilled discs are available through J.C.Whitney and others.

Hawk brake (Porsche preferred product)pads will give you shorter stopping distance.

The OE mud and snow tires that are OE show to be terrible stoppers, the new yokahama tire that Jody put on might be the best of everything to help stopping distances.

I saw PTWoodie at CTF3. They had the Wilwood brake kit on their GT. Looked GREAT! But I suspect moocho buck$[8D]

I have heard that to get the fullperformance on the willwood you need to do some work with the anti-Lock system. I've read some tests where stopping distances were actually further than stock.

Here is an idea!!

Power Slot Cross Drilled Rotors $158.00 Front Axle(2 Discs)
$164.00 Rear Axle (2 Discs)
Kelsey Hayes Pro Series Pads $ 86.00 All Four Calipers
Goodridge Braided Stainless Brakelines $109.00 All Four Calipers
(Your Color)High Temp Caliper Paint $ 15.00 All Four Calipers

PT will stop much shorter distances with a firmer pedal, cross drilled rotors and painted calipers look good (that is really all you see on the fancy set any way).

Total cost of $534.00 for a system that works with your anti-lock system.

(Or Do the Hi Tech Add ons)
Wilwood 4 piston calipers and cross drilled rotors(and others) $1,200 to $1,500 fronts only.

This is just an idea, hopefully with fewer headaches. Pad and rotor replacement down the road is less expensive, and there would be no reason to get into trying to balance a system.

God I hate agreeing with somebody all the time but Kirby has given good advice.[^] I really like Powerslot rotors and upgraded brake lines. When I do my first brake job this is what I am going to do. I have used them in the past and it really does make a difference in stopping ability.

Cal,
I'm just down the road in Irvine. My response was your same reasoning; my dealer mentioned that the rotors usually are worn out by the first brake job, so why put stockers back in. I was slightly off on the specialty coating for the calipers, aparently there is a three stage coating that runs about $50.

I well know that the biggest improvement that we can do for stopping power is a tire change (the OE tires are a little weak).

Just FYI:

The front rotors on the Turbo GT are thicker than a standard PT, 280mm X 28mm (Turbo) vs 280mm X 23mm (Standard) and the calipers are different (bigger on the turbo models). So be aware when you are buying replacement front rotors and associated brake parts.
