Default Alignment Kits?

I've ordered some lowering springs from Tire Rack and they suggest a "alignment kit". It looks like some odd looking bolts and washers for the front end, my question is are they really necessary, or is it just some way to get another $30 out of me? Thanks D.

It's necessary if your front end needs to be aligned. Yea, that's all it is ....2 bolts that go on to the bottom of the strut. It replaces the bottom bolt (of two) and it's an odd shaped bolt so when they turn the bolt it changes/adjusts the ??camber - caster?? toe ?? (I forget which) but without the bolts, it can't be adjusted to the right specs.

Why the HECK didn't Chrysler put those stupid bolts in, in the first place, is beyond the normal range of thinking.

And YES, you can find them a little cheaper maybe on eBay (that's where I got mine ($19) but then I paid for shipping so I didn't save anything.

changes camber...

how low are your springs going to put you? if it's just 1"-1.5" you'll be alright, but 1.5" and over get some... it'll help b/c you DONT want positive camber.

I've ordered the springs and the alignment kit, can't wait to get them on and see how much better this will corner, i figured for $25 it couldn't be all bad. Any suggestions about the install, looks like the rears will be a piece of cake and the fronts just take your time and do it right. But is there anything I'm missing?

I've had two PTs lowered with Eibach springs (1.6 front, 2 back) and haven't needed the camber kit. Some do, most don't. Your cornering will improve to a point, but you'll still need better sway bars,Tokico shocks, poly bushings and a front strut bar. If you are made of money then some wider tires would be nice, too, but if you are keeping it on the sane side then just springs will be nice.

Smile Re: Alignment Kits?

Install the springs today, took about 5 hours, and i got a 2 1/4 inch drop in the reat and 1 3/4 drop in the front, really like the way it looks and the ride and cornering is improved, I didn't install the alignment kit, it wasn't very obvious just what it replaces, I'll wait until i get an alignment check and if it needs the kit they can put it on. I did notice as I was brushing the grit off the front brake calipers, stamped into them it says TURBO on them, it's nice to have bigger brakes.
