Default Strut bar??

Hi all

A strut bar is a aftermarket car suspension accessory that used with MacPherson Struts on unibody chassis in order to provide extra strength between the strut towers.

Hello Maya,

A more detailed explanation:

The strut tower bar strengthens the chassis by joining the two shock towers together. This helps to eliminate flex created by performance driving while improving the cars feel and handling

If it really works so well, ya gotta wonder why Chrysler didn't put it in, or at least offer it in one of the performance packages?

it would work better if the strut brace also triangulated on the firewall tying the whole front unibody structure together. edelbrock makes this style for the camaro and firebirds and it was superior to the strut to strut style. pain in the rear to install, but a huge difference between the styles.

They work very well. Chrysler has been deleting standard items in the PT for the last five years. One of the items they deleted was the rear sway bar starting in '03. They stated they intregrated one into the rear axle. The only problem with that is the part number for the '03 rear axle is the same number as '01 & '02 so they lied. No rear sway bar can be dangerous if you swerve sharply as your chances are greater that you can roll it. So much for wondering why DCX didn't put a strut bar in as standard equipment. Besides, Chrysler hates performance parts and loves to void warranties because of them.

You can't see them in this view but I had 2 tabs welded to the back side of this bar and then through bolted into the firewall with steel reenforcement plates inside the wiper motor valley. Made a big difference in handling on high speed exit and entry ramps.

If your talking about the upper strut bar, I may be wrong, but I don't think that bar is around anymore. It came in yellow and could be painted to match your color scheme, but i did a quick search and can't seem to find anyone that's selling that particular strut bar anymore.
