Default Bushing Replacement

Hello all

Quite new to this whole Forum thingy

But bought an 08 Sky the other day and entered their forum - so I'm just learning here..

Anyway, I noticed on my 01 PT that the vertical? bushing on the lower A arm is shot and rubbing the frame - has been for some time (silly design) Cruiser2 - sml2.jpg

I went to the dealer, picked up two (both sides) $47 / ea - they said that the part number has gone thru 5 changes ??? Perhaps they'll get it right some day??

Awaiting good weather to replace them

AND I'M WONDERING -
how much trouble am I in for?

Pressed in? pound out??

thanks for any info
joe

Most just get urethane replacements from Energy Suspension to make sure they don't bust again. All the A-arm bushings I've ever done, you end up drilling medium sized holes all the way around (close spacing), then pound it out the rest of the way. Clean up the leftover rubber inside of the A-arm hole with a Dremel sander, and press the new bushing in.

A little torch is a good thing to have to burn it out.

I don't like using the torch whenever possible since it promotes oxidation/rust and can also burn off any protective paint off the part.

Then again, living in the rust belt, your A-arms might already be rusted out anyways.

That's why you wire brush and repaint.
