I agree with Nevin. 36K miles out of a tire ain't shabby. You shouldn't EXPECT more than 40K out of any tire with a treadwear rating under 400.

I got 30K out of a set of a set of Falken Ziex including 4 - 15 minute sessions at a high speed lapping day and a few autocrosses. I was happy since they were only 330 treadwear.
LOL i have had tires last that long in a long time!!!

Wow! I guess I shouldn't complain!

However, I don't race professionally, so this explains your 9 sets!

Has anyone heard of Goodride? I just had to replace all my tires at 24,000 -- with no rotation, they were the stock Goodyear Eagles.. I have 30 day test drive on these tires -- Anyone heard of these tires.

Im new to this site,so bare with me..the 215-50-17 is a good size tire... thats what i have on mine. nexen sells a cheap tire and their really not too bad I have them on a 17x7 wheel it rides good and handles pretty well.

Cool Re: Tires for My GT

This might be too simplistic, but....
Seems like if the tire really grips well, you will loose tread faster = less lifetime mileage.
I replaced the OEM BadYears with Kumho XPTs on soonercruiser. They do grip really well - but not on ice in Oklahoma. So I switch back to the OEMs during winter (2 months here).
**But, even with my hearing loss, the Kumhos are noisey!
Any suggestions on a quieter replacement?

In my experience:
Falken Ziex 512's are quieter than stock until about 25K miles when they're down to about half traead, and then get a little louder. Good wet and dry performance. Adequate traction in light snow, but not heavy.

Fuzion ZRi are louder than stock from the get-go, don't grip as good as Falkens in dry or wet, and have absolutely no usefulness in the snow or ice.

Falken Ziex 912 are quieter than stock, good wet and dry traction, OK traction in light snow and ice. No idea on longevity cause I'm only 8K in, but so far, so good ..... plus the 912's aren't unidirectional so they're actually fully rotatable.

As a sidenote, in this month's edition of Grassroots Motorsports, the Ziex 912 won a competition of 5 tires for best inexpensive daily use/autocross tire beating Yokohama, Fuzion, and Kumho.

And BTW Sooner, I was in a parade in downtown Seattle last weekend, and I got stuck carrying the Oklahoma state flag despite my protests. Oh the horror.

My 2003 GT was a year old when I got it in 2003. This spring at 20000 miles, with the original Goodyears almost 6 years old, one developed a bulge. Rather than replace just one, I got a set of Bridgestone Potenzas that have been great. They are quieter and seem to stick better in the corners. They were also $80 less per tire than the original Goodyears. They hold great in the rain too.

I had the Goodrides on my car for a month, I had one defective tire. I am taking them up on the one month test drive and will be getting Hannkooks to replace the Goodrides.

The Goodrides are junk, don't bother getting them.

Talking Re: Tires for My GT

Well LakersFan,
I guess I'm goin' to have to send you your official Oklahoma citizenship papers for the effort.
Oops! We're out of toilet paper.
I'll have to let Boone Pickins take care of it for me....
