I bought a used GT in May and was able to bring the car home to try my 16" stock chrome wheels on before buying it to make sure my snow tires fit. I put them on and did not have a problem.

the front calipers are 5mm WIDER than the n/a cruiser front calipers. That is where the problem lies. 16" wheels can fit if the offset is right. I have a set of Mille Miglia Evo5's that I had on my 01. I needed a 3mm spacer for the wheel spokes to clear the caliper edge in the front. the rears went on fine. Those were 17x8's too.

Canadian Tire has the wheels listed in their database. No clearance problems.

Normal PT wheels won't fit due to our oversized brakes. I have a set of 15" steelies that I got cheap at Canadian Tire - you should be able to get a set just about anywhere. I have chrome plastic covers for them that are pretty close to the GT wheel, so it looks close enough to stock to fool most people. Wheels were about $50 Canadian each.
have the part number handy for the wheels?

I'll check it out tomorrow. Asked the dealer last week for 15's they said only 17 or 16 would clear the calipers.
