What I bought for winter wheels, Alum paint and cleared. 228.00 to the door, no tax which is 6% in PA

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....Compare 1=yes

What I bought for Tires.

In snow climates you can not just run all seasons, unless you like crashing or curb kissing. It seems like a lot of money but to save a crash, save your 17" chromes, and you can run them 5 months or so so you will have two sets of tires wearing instead of one.

Tommy and LAF:

Have you tried your wheels on yet? I thought I read in a seperate thread a while ago that normal PT Cruiser wheels will not fit on the GT because of the larger front brakes.

Brad,
They fit, well at least on the drivers side front anyway. I got them today when I got home. Pulled the drivers front, put the 16" Mopar's on and all looked well. I put the key in and put it in N and spung it a bunch of times, no issues. When I first put it on I was freaking because of how close the "spoke" of the new wheel was passing over the caliper. Yanked it off, put the stock chrome on and it is a little larger gap but not very much. I really had not noticed how close of a gap it is there, look sometime, it cant be more than a 1/4" clearance, probably less. It was a very interesting find. And impresses on me that kissing a curb in any situation is going to be an expensive mistake, as if these wheels or my new winter wheels take a hit they are gonna be worthless, and probaly make a miner curb kiss or accident a towable adventure because the wheel wont spin if it gets knocked the 1/4"(if that)clearance now there. I dont remember any car I owned being this close.

Anyway the rims do fit in 16". They are Mopar wheels, in OEM Mopar boxes, 16x6J as marked inside each wheel. Think I got a steal for the price. My dealer said these were being sold off by Mopar, and he showed me they originaly cost 139.95, but could get them for 75.00 each. I got them for 228.00 to the door, 48.00 for shipping, which I thought high, but still if I had done the dealer it would have been 300.00+6%, Instead of the 180.00+48.00 I paid. Just ordered the Dunlop Sport M3's from Tire Rack. 396.00 to the door. So 396.00 + 228.00 = 624.00 for 4 wheels that look nice, and strait winter tires that are VR speed rated, 205/55/16, the coolest tread pattern I have ever seen since my Venom X motorcyle tires made by Avon, and offer really great dry road handeling with very little loss in noise and ride comfort.

i went to crappy tire, $60/steel rim.....[:0]

so i called around and pulled a 'tthrift' and bought 4 15' rims for $92 in total from a base model pt that someone brought back to the dealer.

for anyone in the ingersoll area, the chyrsler dealer there seems pretty kick ass. i had alot of attention about my pt their and they seem like a great bunch of guys. they didn't know me from a whole in the ground, but i was floored by their total positivness.

i miss sourthern ontario.

i decided on the top winter tires by goodyear. i have friends with both blizzaks and these, and with the slight price difference and the ensurance that they performace virtually the same i'm gonna give them a go.

originally, i'd decided to drive a beater in the winter instead of the pt...but the heated seats won in the end.

here's to NO FENDER BENDERS this winters [^]

LAF,

I am following your lead. I picked up a set of the painted 5 spoke PT wheels that you purchased. $99.00 for 4 + $38.03 for shipping (Wyckoff Chrysler, see their eBay Store. 5 sets left...) I am gonna try the Falken Ziex ZE-512 tires. 205/55/16 V-rated. Supposed to be an Excellent All-Season tire ($76.00 per tire from Discount Tire [www.tires.com]).

Scott
