Default REPAIRS at 65k

Okay...so from reading the forums I knew I had to have some suspension stuff to replace. My service contract won't go out until 2010 or 80k. So, I am trying to get all the stuff wrong with my car replaced before my warranty goes out.

Luckily, my mechanics at my dealership and I see eye-to-eye!

I asked them to check the following:

Upper Control arms
motor mounts
IAC (for cleaning)

After checking the vehicle, they said that they wanted to replace these items, while still being under warranty:

Sway bars (said i didn't have upper control arms)
Possibly struts
motor mounts
IAC (new)
Throttle Body gasket Cover (??? I think this is wut he said)
Replace Timing Belt (not covered under warranty)

They said that since they gotta replace all of these things they might as well replace the timing belt while they could get to it, and this way, I won't be charged for labor and have to make another trip to have it replaced in a few months. They also said that they would only charge me 1/2 the labor for the timing belt, since the items that are covered under warranty, must be replaced and are in the same vicinity as the timing belt.

They are gonna order parts on Monday...and give me quote...what estimate do yall think is appropriate?

THX!

Wow, you have some sort of great relationship with your dealer. The ONLY thing that might be in the vicinity of the timing belt in a motor mount. Everything else has nothing to do or near it. Half the labor rate is great too.

On my Corvette, my club gets parts at cost plus 10% and labor at $25 an hour but that's only because the dealer is the sponsor of our club. I'm trying to get him to sponsor our local PT club since he has a Chrysler dealership also and we could get the same rates too, but so far no luck.

P.S. The Throttle Body doesn't have a cover, but does have a gasket. Wonder how he'd know you needed a new one?

Water Pump?? I think like Crewzin, that you are getting a great break at your dealer, keep them.

That's what I was going to say. But half price on a dealership timing belt is probably about 100% what a regular repair shop would charge. As said, it makes sense to replace the water pump while the timing belt cover is off.

Yeah... they're really sweet. It helps that I've been going there since '05 and they consider me a "preferred customer".

Hmmmm, then the gasket is probably wut he was talking about. I suppose the only way he knew it needed a new one was because he totally inspected the area....I was there all day.

I came in and wanted an oil change and asked them to check the other stuff...so they told me what should be done and told me that they would change the oil and stuff the next time I brought it in for all repairs...so I wouldn't be charged for labor just for the oil change.

I left without a bill.

It's the same mechanic...his name is "Oliver" and the dealership is NW Dodge in Houston. The Service Managers that are great are: Mr. Mitchell, Ms. Sanchez and Mr. Price....just in case anyone is looking for a great dealership...

I think I'm gonna get them some gift cards for finding all this stuff for me!

I mean these guys are sooo awesome..one of the service managers gave me his cell so that I could text him with any mechanical questions or requests.

It's like they actually believe in providing the best service to their customers. In my book they deserve a fro'

Alrighty, talked to the dealer today and this is the list of my repairs:

Sway bars
Struts
motor mounts (all of 'em, these aren't covered under warranty)
IAC (new)
Throttle Body gasket (after checkin the throttle body, he said it needed a new gasket)

Replace Timing Belt (not covered under warranty, cuz it isn't broken)
Tensioner and other belts (I think).
Rear window nozzle (it leaks)
Water Pump (I called them back and asked if they could replace it too)

All for the low price of: $434.00

Didn't I say they were great?

When I get my bill, I'll break it down and let yall know what they charged for what. I gotta take my baby in tonight. I think they had to order the struts from St. Louis, so they might have them until Tuesday. I'll be without Shugga Plum for a week, it seems.

I let yall know how it drives, when I get it back
