Anyone have? What's the best price found on it? Truckperfomance wants $300, for the kit, front & back. Eibach or Suspension Techniques?
Here's a link to Suspension Techniques ($240 - front & back): http://www.racerwheel.com/suspension...t-cruiser.html Here's a link to Eibach (truckperfomance): http://www.truckperformance.com/vehi...oductID=322163 |

onedivinehammer,
I followed your link to racerwheel.com They also have a $15 instant rebate in their link (good till 9/15). Total price: $220.56 + shipping. The picture doesn't look like a PT swaybar set. I would ask if the endlinks are included (it would be cool if they were...). What diameters are they?? Compare with Eibach and others. My 2 cents, Scott

onedivinehammer,
Follow this link: http://www.stracing.com/pdf-files/STAG050203s.pdf It says that the Suspension Techniques front swaybar is 1 1/8" thick and the rear bar is 7/8" thick for the PT Cruiser. Geez, I guess I answered some of my own questions... Scott

Thanks! .... and yes, you do answer your questions!
And since you know the dimensions, what are you thoughts on the Suspension Techniques? Good? Or should I just spend the extra for the Eibach's? BTW - The Suspension Techniques are for PT models 01-02. I'm assuming because of the lack of the rear sways on the stock '03, and thus lack of the attachment kit? There wouldn't be a differnce in sizes from '01 to '03?

onedivinehammer,
I like the fact that Suspension Techniques powdercoats their swaybars. It will last longer than regular paint. I have seen some swaybars which are bare metal (why?? I know why----to save a buck!) I need MX-5 or anyone else to supply the OEM swaybar diameters. Help! I don't see the need to buy a new bar IF the new bar has the same diameter as the OEM bar. Since we don't have rear swaybars, this is a moot point. Scott

I believe the Mopar bars are 22mm front & 19mm rear:
http://www.chryslerparts.cc/catalog/?section=644 The Eibachs (which are red powder coated) are 25mm front & 22mm rear. Eibach does have a rear hardware kit (Part#2860.320HKR) but I've never been able to find anyone who sells it. Aloha, Mark ps. Sorry for hijacking the other thread. |

thanks everyone ...
Am I safe to assume there is no difference in the size/set up of the sways, aside from the lack of a rear sway bar, from the '03 edition and the '01-'02 editions? A sway kit designed for '01 would fit '03 right?

That is my impression. I know Flashbk2 has Addco swaybars on his GT. I saw them on his GT at the All-Chrysler Nationals this summer.
You will need, obviously, the mounting hardware for the rear swaybar. I believe (I have yet to confirm this...) that Energy Suspension and/or Performance Suspension have polyurethane endlink kits (no deflection from these parts). I, too, am looking for a swaybar set. I just want to know the diameters of the swaybars from the manufacturers for good comparisons (more internet legwork...). Scott

Quote:
The Mopar bars mentioned that are 22mm front & 19mm rear were the optional heavy duty sway bars offered as aftermarket replacements. If I remember correctly when I measured the stock bars, they were 26mm front and 16mm rear. Some magazine reviews were surprised that Mopar used a smaller diameter bar for the optional front bar but the material used is different from the stock units. Just purchase a matching front and rear set from one manufacturer, if you are buying an aftermarket set. Unless you are a racer, mixing different makes of sway bars or different size bars from the same manufacturer is usually a no-no.

Hey Divots -
You have to have someone special order the hardware kit (2860.320HKR). This is all of the hardware to install the rear sway if your car did not come with a factory sway bar. Also, I was talking to a guy at Eibach that said that the 'Pro-Street' kit (2860.710) is a complete coil-over kit. It's not yet available, and the list on it will be $1750.
