When I had the '01 PT I lowered it with Eibachs and latered added a Wildfire strut tower bar. I loved the way it handled once I lowered it. True, in some instances you have to be careful so you don't scrape the front end. But, for myself that is not very often. When I got my GT I was coming home from work on the freeway on a windy night and got blown around by the wind. When I got home I complained to my wife that I never had that problem when the '01 was mine because it was lowered. She laughed at me and said she didn't have that problem because her PT was lowered. The following week my GT got lowered with Eibachs. I don't know what kind of roads those of you who are driving on who are afraid of scraping even without being lowered. These are roads I probably wouldn't drive on if they are that bad and if I had to use them I would get to know them really well so as to avoid trouble spots. The PT handles much better just by being lowered. A BTG strut bar is on the agenda in the near future. No way would I raise either PT back to stock height.

GTSteve,
Yes, I meant to be funny and not knock ANYONES ride. I like any PT from bone-stock to wild...they are just way-to-cool and no other brand even comes close to a Crusiers looks. We are all different and buy them for different reasons.
You do have to be careful going up or down steep driveways once lowered...I've scrapped both directions. But its sure worth it in cornering ability.

MeanGreen, Did you go on the Fall Colors Cruise? I looked for your car (the Green one that is) but didn't see it. 49 Cruisers, bright sunny day, fall leave colors, and a great group of people...what more can you ask for???

I think that depending on how u lower the car gives it a more natural look.
Some people just don't like the look or are happy with stock.
I think a 3" drop is too much but I like a 2" drop.
Preference I guess.
I have mine lowered and just added the front and rear swyas. Today driving home with 320lb of salt in the back (bagged ) I noticed a dramatic improvement in stability.

I like the way the blue PT looks. I would do it too but I think it would scrape the front bumper with my 15 in dragradials. They are close now

Howdy Deen, no we didn't make it. My wife had to go to Atlanta on business on Saturday at the last minute. I know we missed a great time, but work rules.

I installed "airride suspension" by air ride and really enjoy the flexibility of raising and lowering the vehicle with the push of a button. Raised to negotiate curbs and driveways and lowered for cruising and show. You determine your "ride hight" before getting an allignment and use this hight for the majority of you driving. It is not an exact science as changing cargo weight will throw off your camber and such. We drove from Alberta,Canada to the east coast and back without any problems. It was a joy to cruise in style..."low ride".

Will just lowering improve your handling, or do you need to get new shocks, too, to handle the reduces suspension travel and prevent bottoming out? I know this is the case in alot of lowering applications (need new shocks) just wondered about the PT.

And how do the "air ride" deals compare to regular lowering springs in terms of handling and cost?
