I need a little information here. [:I]
Presently I have a set of Progress lowering springs on my GT. I really like the stance they give my car. I don't even mind bumping my 'chin' now and then. However.... The ride is rough. Can anyone comment or suggest a low and smooth ride? I see on the Mopar site there are two coilover suspension kits for the GT that will be "coming soon". Any insight on what "coming soon" means? Anyone have experiance with any aftermarket kits? Thanks for your help. Larry |

Stock wheels?
Low rarely equals smooth. Although I have the BTGs and Im on low-profile 18s and I think it rides nicely. Im most likely about to install new rear springs from a different set to lower the rear...maybe it'll go down hill from there....we'll see.

I spoke with KW Suspensions (they are supplying the Mopar coilovers) about 3 weeks ago and they told me that the kits would be done in about 2.5 weeks (should be done now) and they are looking at a lead time of 2 months before they arrive. I will contact them again this week to see if there has been any update and if I can't start to sell them.

Eibach has a kit 'coming soon' too, but last time I checked, list was going to be in the Stratosphere.

There are coilover solutions that do NOT require you to buy a specific coilover shock! These kits consist of a threaded alloy tube that slides over the body of the strut, a spring seat is then spun down the tube and a smaller diameter coilover spring is placed on the seat, then the smaller diameter cap holds the spring. Height adjustment is just like the regular coilover, and the extra tire room is achieved with the smaller diameter spring, seat, and cap. Cost for the spring setup is from $250 to $300 on top of the cost of the strut.
Unless you are going to race your PT at Willow Springs, I doubt you would know the difference, and the total setup is about 1/2 the cost! |
