Default The Dealer Said.....

I finally had a peek under my 03 GT, and did NOT notice the rear sway bar (as everyone has mentioned), I looked at my window sticker,(it was on their, FT & RR) and showed it to the dealer (service manager), CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS, he said (after I told him it wasn't there), "Oh yeah, Chrysler had a big bullentin on that rear sway bar, it's INTEGRATED INTO THE REAR TRAILING ARMS!!!!!!", I almost laughed at him. I told him," I tried to see if it was there, and couldn't find it." he said,"Don't worry, they designed it that way (together) to save space and material". I finally stopped playing stupid, I told him to put it on the lift, and show me where it is, he got very nervous and walked away,I'm going back later this week to see what IS NOT there........Stew

All I can say is "Good luck!"

Read this for more information on the "missing sway bar issue."

knowyour,
My brother and I both had the dealer put them on when we bought them, no issues. We bought at two differant dealers so it was not like they knew. I learned from this fourm, my brother from me. They also just replaced my brothers PCM and mine will be in this week. We both run S1 but wanted the stock PCM to be fresh and right sitting on the shelf for a backup.

Punch, Watt's linkage was on the car from the start...along with the sway bar on early LE's. Linkage and twist beam look EXACTLY the same. Since I added mine, the fat ass of my car doesn't pitch nearly as much and feels almost as stable as my 01 did....at my expense.

If they won't budge try to get them to meet you half-way...by giving you all the rear-linkage parts. Then you can go out and by an after-maket roll-bar kit that will really make a differance (you'll still need the rear-linkage parts since they don't come with the after-market kits).

Hyracers suggestion is an excellent compramise. The Eibach, or Addco, or Suspension Techniques bars are larger in diameter than the OEM bar and make a large inprovement in the handling. I think I paid around $ 76.00 for all of the parts needed. Here is the list w/dealer stock#s just in case.....

A Watt's link is used to keep the rear wheels from sliding sideways. Nothing like a sway bar!
The integrated "sway bar function" is supposedly achieved by welding the trailing arms(the large black arms that point towards the front of the car)solid with a combination tube and stamped steel "twist axil". Preasure on one wheel will cause the hard welded arm on the other side to exert some leveling force. The trouble is that this scenrio only works in a very narrow weight and force situation. Drive HARD and the rear will distort to the point of loss of control, same applies if you load up the rear end with weight.
Do yourself a favor... the parts are only about $125 total, put one on your car, give the cheap a$$ dealer the finger, and drive a safer car![?]
