Default WHAHOO...Just received my new tires

Talk about overkill! I'll have to start thinking harder about buying the S3 parts when they come out just to keep up with the speed rating on these puppies. I bought 225/45 R 17's with a speed designation of "Y" (186 MPH). Naturally we'll have snow on the road for the next few months so I won't be able to comment on the ride/handling aspects till Spring

Hyracer,

IRPT already has thoses tires on his PT (I think, they sure look the same), you can ask him how they feel on the road. I borrowed his picture from another thread..take a look.

hyracer, I have the Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires and I love them. Mine are mounted on 17 x 7.5 rims with a 42mm offset and they fit perfectly. Handling in the rain is amazing, as well as the dry handling. With the addition of my F-1's, Progress 27mm front and 22mm rear sway bars, Race & Stree strut tower brace, KYB struts/shocks and Progress 2 inch lowering springs my Cruiser corners like it is on rails, wet or dry surface. You will really like the improvement in handling with these tires, especially in the rain.

IRPT/CREWZIN,
You guys are GREAT[^]
Yes those are the tires. Nice to hear that they work so well on our Cruisers.

IRPT, what size did you get...225's, 235's, 245's ???

I was going to get 235's but my aftermarket wheels are only 7" wide so I didn't want to compromise the handling by getting tires that were too wide for the wheel and that's why I went with 225's. My goal is to eventually run the road-race in Nevada between Eli and Las Vegas. Without running a roll-bar our GT's would qualify for the 100, 105, and 110 MPH classes. My biggest problem I'm having right now is finding a family member that will ride with me as my navigator and it does require $1,000-$1,500 in expenses (entry fee, motels, driving school and required license, etc.)to enter the race.

CREWZIN, thanks for posting the pictures[?]

Deen

hyracer, I have 225/45/17. With the combination of a 7.5 inch rim and 42mm offset the 235's would have rubbed on the strut tower. As it is I have about 1/4 inch, maybe a little less, clearance between the tire and the strut tower. Road race sounds interesting, if I lived closer I'd volunteer to ride with you!!
