Default Kosei K-1 Wheels with BFG Drag Radials Arrived

Just got my 2 15" Kosei K-1 wheels (13.5 lbs each) clad in BFG Drag radials 205/50/15.

Got the idea from the SRT forums where lots of folks are running them with great results.

They fit calipers fine and drop the front end 1 to 1 1/2". Plan on pushing them hard at the strip this weekend. In the meantime made a trial run and they really do grab! Looks like I should be able to leave with NOS on in 1st Gear. I also assume that due to the size difference my final drive ration will go up giving me more pull down low.

I hope the automatic will not shift to od before end of 1/4, but even if so the hook up and mid range should really help.

Lack of traction has been my biggest et problem. I will let you know the difference.

Hey are you still running that 35 shot of Nox? Can you post pictures of the wheels?

Got it! E.g. "light weight and cheap" my kind of wheel.

I hope the 60's will be much improved. Best so far (no NOS at start) 2.141 and that is with no load-up prior to start. Load-Up to 1500 rpm degrades time with stock tires. I'm no physicist, but lower 60's should create geometric improvements the rest of the way through the quarter.

Track is open (assuming no rain) Fri, Sat and Sunday this week. I plan to be there at least twice and hope to be able to load up 1200 to 1500 rpn and leave with NOS active at 3000 rpm.

DO NOT TRY TO USE 15 inch Rims/Tires for quarter mile. Just prior to reaching the finish the pcm, thinking you are going much faster (smaller wheel provides higher speed readings) than you really are cuts boost! Not only do you go slower, you also then must reset your pcm or future boost will be kept below 10 psi.

Ordering these wheeles was really stupid of me. Of course they work on SRT as they have a much higher speed cut number.

Where does the GT takes its speed reading from? You should be able to get roughly the same diameter 15" slick as the factory 17" tire. Also the SRT forum posts have repeatedly stated not to get too short of slick...If I remember right the ones running slicks are running 26" tall

You can use 15" rims as long as the tire used is within +- 3% of the original tire height.
