Default The car feel like crap... a shaft may be Dying??

The other day I decided to rotate the tires (nothing to do and had some time to waste). decide also to clean the wheels on the inside.

When I removed the right front tire I noticed it was full of grease and dirt!!! When I looked at the suspension it was also full of grease everywhere, the worst parts where the lower ball joint and the brake piston. the shaft cover was also with a lot of grease.

I decided to clean it with a rag with degreaser. I cleaned most of it to search for the cause. I cleaned the "CV Joint" cover completly and inspected it... Guess what? I never found a crack or a hole in it, not even a loose clamp!!!

I proceeded to reinstall the tire and monitor it for a two days... when I checked again, it again had sprinkles of black grease in the wheel [xx(] also, I can feel a slight ocilation in the steering wheel..

I called the service department (which they only accept cars by appointment) and their next available date is march 26!!!

I am forced to drive the car like this for three weeks[xx(]

I had taken the car for service about eight months ago to fix my torque converter. Do you think this repair could have caused this damage? I guess they would have to remove this item to remove the trany...

BTW my car just turned 7,000 Miles. it has almost no milage so I can still claim waranty... If they don't find a way to say it is wear and tear or I voided the waranty with the muffler, intake or even the Boost gauge...

I found the driver side in the same condition the first time I rotated my tires. I cleaned it up and havehad no repeat of the condition. That was about 5000 miles. I am now at about 14000. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Do you hear any noises like a CV joint or anything?

No noise whatsoever...

the car feels strong but I found more grease in the wheel after I had cleaned it... Also I feel some small left and right jitters when the car starts to move

That sounds just like a CV joint. After a big pot-hole I had my boot yanked right off the outer tripod on the driver's side. Grease everywhere, but clamp never failed. My dealer took me right away and gave me a loaner because it might have failed and stranded me. If your boot is intact and very little is escaping, then you're probably all right.

Verify that the 'tie strap' is on the both ends of the boot. Had an outer tie-strap let go on the Max, greased up everything. And this on a newly installed replacement axle. Axle was replaced in warranty, but I still had to do the job, for the second time.[xx(]

There is less grease because It lost all that it had inside.
When I first cleaned the wheel, it had about 1/8" or less of grease all around it. the caliper and the lower A-arm had a 1/4" or more of grease in the surfaces that point to the CV Joint. The Boot had grease but because of the G-forces it was minimal.

My dealer said that the closest date available is the 26th this month and the only way that they will take it earlier is if it broke and it came in a Flat Bed...[xx(]

Guess what? I don't beleive that you are required to take the vehicle to a dealership for warranty service. iot may require you to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed, but you should be able to take it to many other shops and get the work done.

Did you explain to the dealer that the grease has leaked out of the CV joint, that there is no more in there? Is there another dealer nearby?

Yes I explained it to them..
The Horror Dealer Saga begins!!!
They are the only authorized Chrysler dealer around, I am stuck with them (Living in an Island, is that, or drop it in the Ocean). Also I didn't Buy the car from them, I bought it thru Military car Sales. I am forced to wait... and hope if it breaks, that I will be able to say "Itold You so..."

Well, I took the car today and they re-greased the u joint and installed a new boot...

in an unrelated note, I also found the rear left light had humidity inside. I told the service tech... When I picked up the car, he informed me that the waranty didn't covered the replacement of this item!!!

I tried to talk to the manager but he had gone for the week and that I should call on monday... He was the one that ordered not to replace it...

I read the Waranty and it is indeed covered. This is my new battle.
