Todd I am with the rest of the guys here. 4 new slotted dimpled, drilled if it has to be, and pads that go inside the stock wheels. You will have a bunch of sales then.

As the kids say; it's all good. I understand the market fairly well and never figured the PT crowd as 'performance brake minded' in the sense of heavy track use. Sure, there are those who may I suppose, but that's not the target for the car. Honestly many of you don't NEED the type of kit I have and unless you have some more ponies under the hood, there's some down side to massive, rotating rotors too.
Most of the buyers want or need what I described as a 'brake enhancement package', there's nothing to be ashamed of or upset about it! Drilled, slotted, dimpled, plated etc rotors, some decent pads, and stainless hoses are what it's all about. While it's not my market, there are plenty of folks who cater to this requirement and deserve your business. Your only limit is that of stock size parts. Most of the time this can be had for $350-500 total. The only package I can offer you is the one pictured above from Wilwood, not a TCE/Wilwood as the SRT4 kit is. I don't choose to get in the stock parts market of the above type parts as I find it simply too cut throat and you have to do volumes of business with little % to make it work. And of course there are many folks out there already who do market these products. I'm more of a one-on-one specialty builder who targets those who want more than the basic add ons but can't swing the mega high priced kits on the market. I've carved a nice nitche in the $1000-1500 range that few can compete with for quality and value. Wheels shall remain the big problem for the PT when it comes to alternatives. I did in fact ship out a SRT4 kit some time back which is only the .81 rotor pacakge for a modest wheel spacer. We figure the need to be about 1/4" or so. Not an all out track monster but much better than stock in many ways. As for this fitting the PT with the same spacer... I dunno. (sometimes even I have to say it!) I can give someone inner wheel template type numbers and with a steel ruler we an at least get close if interested. When someone wants matching product the best I can do is sell the front kit in a form which they in turn can try to match with a rear from another supplier. Some kits I sell do offer rear rotor 'upsizing' packages which then can be made to match the fronts by me. I'm considering the SRT4 for this one but we'll see. |

fast reaction time and a new set of brakes recently saved the lives of my wife and son. The more I look at performance braking, the more I ask why not! It's like catastrofic insurance, sure you may not need it 99% of the time, but that one time is worth every penny. The more go power you put into your PT the more often those times are bound to occur, possibly because it isnt as low to the ground and agile as the SRT. Just take a ride in a vintage 50s or 60s car and you will see how far we have come, and what it means in terms of safety.[8)]

The PT is an average braking vehicle. Not the best, certainly not the worst straight from the factory. However, I certainly don't want to take what DCX did and make it worse. Ill matched brakes or brake components can do that. Especially if only the front brakes are changed out leaving the rear brakes stock.

Nice. Somebody else figured out that VW wheels work. I sure hope you have ball seat lugnuts or adaptor washers on those!
