I have read hundreds of posts about big brake kits, but I haven't been able to decipher some of them, so here it goes?
Which one is better? Which one fits our GT Cruiser? Pros, cons Help me out! I just bought a set of 18x8.5 Azev wheels, so clearance is not an issuea anymore. Any other brand worth lokking into? Rotor replacement? |

That one got way too personal, and frankly that wasn't helping me.

MEXICANPT has a valid new question! Since he has stepped up for new larger wider wheels, he has options not available to guys with stock wheels like me.
This should be a very important thread! Congratulations on the new wheels and springs!! Post som pictures. |

Clearance still could be an issue, probably not, but the diameter of the wheel is not the concern but the shape or clearance of the spokes. Stop-Tech has a brake kit outline that you can down load and use as a template to check your wheels. Make sure it is to scale when you print it!
I am looking to get some SSR competion or GT-7's and paint the center the same color as the PT. |

While having taken a 'personal turn', too which I apologize for my screaming at times, there is some valuable info in there for you.
The two main issues you have to deal with have not chnaged: 1. Spindle mount of caliper brackets (discussed) 2. Wheel clearance (also discussed) Both of these remailn your primary hurdles depending upon what type of parts are used on the particular kit you choose. I don't represent ST and cannnot make claims to what they fit and do not, however someone mentioned the use of twin piston calipers on it thus I'll go out on a limb a bit and suggest that they may be a more narrow design than the more common four pot. The WW kit also uses a more compact design (the Dynalite) on the .81 rotor to gain clearance. Better? At this level I'd favor the ST kit (despite selling the other) for caliper quality, however the WW kit has beneifts in cost, probably some packaging room and a much wider assortment of pads to work with. Now for the plug; if neither of these are up to the level to which you want to operate, and we in fact confirm the PT kits can use the same bracket as the Turbo PT....then the TCE kit for the SRT4 in either .81 or in 1.10 rotor width will be the choice over the two above. It WILL however compromise wheel clearance more then either of these above, probably in .81 form also given the larger body Forged Superlite caliper over the WW's Dynalite. At least worthy of consideration if serious braking or open track days are in your fututre. Price is bumped up also to about $1100 and options a plenty so budget minded folks may wish to pass. Replacement pads, rotors and such are also less than some of the others. For feedback you may want to check out: <a couple of references> NLOC.com (see racing forum) Focaljet.com (see racing forum) SSforums.com (see brakes forum) Should you wish a pic of this on an SRT4 you can email me as I took them yesterday. Or if someone has a web link to send it to and post it here all the better. Hoping this answers some or most of your questions. ![]() |
