Default Tire size w/ 18's

Can one put on 18's w/ the same stock tire hieght of 205 w/out any issues in the fender well along w/ the Eiback springs? Want too raise up the front just a little. 225 is recommended. Am i correct in assuming that this tire is smaller in side wall hieght?[:I]

If I understand your question, you want to know if you can put a 225/50-18 on the front of your PT with Eiback springs.

The 225/50-18 is approximately .4" greater sidewall height and a .5" greater wheel rim to center of hub which together would raise the front of the car .9". However, it will also change the effective gearing by 7.13% since you have a greater rolling diameter with the 225/50-18 than with the 205/50-17. 225/45-18's would be 3.6% greater and have the same sidewall height as the 205/50-17 but you would still have the .5" greater rim to center of hub measurement so the front end would be .5" greater. A 225/40-18 would have virtually the same rolling radius as the 205/50-17 since the sidewall would be .5" less to compensate for the .5" increase in rim to center of hub dimension. Not sure about the clearance issues.

I dont know about clearance issues but a low profile when plus sizing wheels is going to wake your kidneys up on every tar strip you hit, my 18's on my former truck took 52 lbs of air to keep that tiny sidewal ridge. For all things to stay correct, spedo, trany sensor,ABS, Traction control, you need to plus size correctly!

Thanx for the input. Sounds like i'll just have to get used to the front clearance. Better looking w/out all that clearance between the tire and the fender well but what a pain in the butt it can be w/ it lowerd sometimes. Thanx again.

I haven't lowered my car yet, but I have 18x8" wheels with a 35 offset with 235/40-18 s-03's on them. No issues with the front spring perch and they ride quite nicely. I'm anticipating a bit of camber gain when I lower the car so it may be fine to the fenders.
