Why some GTs have non-chrome stock wheels?

I thought it was for all European GTs, but then I saw pictures of non-chrome wheels in this forum from owners in US and Mexico. Mine came with silver rims. They still look great, have the same design, but I like chrome wheels better.

Welcome to the forum Mojito. I believe all the GT's come with chrome wheels and some of the LE's with the Platinum package. I haven't seen any with just silver. [^]

Was your car built in Mexico or Austria? I assume it's left hand drive.

My car is built in Mexico. As far as I know they don't produce PTs in Austria anymore and yes, it's a LHD.

Actually, the chrome was an option for the GT's as well (at least on the '03s). The chrome wheels came as part of the "R" package which also included the leather seats & moonroof. Otherwise, they came with the silver painted wheels.

Thanks, CarolinaBlue GT, now it's clear. I guess this R option is not available here. I have leather sits though (it comes as a base package for GT and Limited), but no sun roof.

I have an 03 GT without leather but with chrome wheels and moon roof, go figure.

I have the 2CR package and I did not order the chrome wheels. I like the silver better.
