ElectricBlueGT's wheels seem to sit farther out than stock, like mine do. I wouldn't say mine leave the wheel wells, though. That's just too much of a pimped ghetto look if you ask me! I do think they fill out the wheel wells better and avoid the tucked in look, which can become even more apparent with a body kit on the car.

My wheels do NOT leave the wheelwell. I think it's an illusion created by the narrow wheel center and tapered spokes.

The 5Zigen RX-6 wheels are nice, but I like the SSR Competitions better. The SSR's are much lighter (forged though!) but cost almost 2 times the price as the 5Zigens. Both wheels look VERY similar.

I like my tires tucked in and aligned with the wheel wells .

With the Xenon front and sides, it might help a little with the appearance of keeping the wheels inside tucked in, but not by much.

I'll talk to a few wheel specialist and see if I can strike some deals on trying a rim and measuring the protrusion from the wheel well.

I probably should stop saying wheel wells since I'm trying to convey the tucked in look (tires and wheels are aligned with the body and don't poke out).

A 17x7 wheel with a 35mm will stick out farther than a 17x7 with a 38mm offset, but we are only talking 3mm here. The more the positive offset the deeper the wheel will sit in the wheel well. The main concern is that there is only about 20 or 25mm from the side of the "tire" to the strut housing with the stock wheel set up. There is about 30 mm from the side of the "tire" to the fender lip. Not a lot to play with. I get 6mm from the side of the tire to the outer wheel lip. There is a total of 50 mm which is about 2". You should be able to fit a 7.5" wheel in there no problem and 8" will be very close if you can find the proper offset. With an 8" wheel I would go with a wheel that has a more positive offset and use a spacer to fine tune it. I am only talking about spacers 10 mm thick max.
Just some thoughts

Hmm I guess I should try and find rims with around 38 to 40 offset if I want to stay close to the wheel wheel lips.

Unfortunately, SSR rims have 17x7.5 and 35 mm offsets. I think those pretty much stick out of the wheel well lips. I'm left with the alternative of the 5Zigen RX-6 17x7 with a 35 mm offset. Not too many aftermarket rims have a 38 to 40 offset, at least the ones I want...

Why do cruisers have to be soo hard to personalize sometimes [].

Damn, everyone is pressuring me to get the SSR's LOL.

The blackend SSR Competitions 17x7.5 35mm offset isn't available till July 16, 2004. The silver colored ones are available, but I want the dark ones . Guess those things are hot sellers on tirerack.

I'll take the plunge on the SSR's and see how strong they really are heh. Placing my order at tirerack.com now.......

P.S. If the SSRs don't stay tucked in my body, I'm gonna blame it on ptgtcb [B)].

Those are the ones I want to get and paint the center body color. Plenty of room for a big brake kit as well. What size/brand tires are you going to get and post a pic when you get them.

P.S. If they don't fit right you can sell them to me cheap, [].

At the moment I'm leaning on the recommended 235/45/17 or maybe 225/45/17 (if that saves any real weight). I'm going for premium A/S tires mainly Michellin.

I plan to post a pic of my car when I finally can get all the visual mods in. I've haven't done any real performance mods to the car, and probably won't go further than Adam's UCP, <undecided> intake, and a mopar dual exhaust (installed and modified to roll pan). I'm more of a show than go guy heh (ricer).
