After much debate on SSR vs. 5Zigen RX-6, I've decided on the 5Zigen due to the balance in weight vs my daily driving needs. I felt that the SSR's were just more track driven and more for a light payload driver.

I chose the 5Zigens as they weigh in 19 lbs, and I felt more at ease than 13.2 lb forged rims.

The tires I chose were 225/45/17 ZR Michelin Pilot XGTZ4, I expect those to give some very nice traction. At least I should notice a huge differnce over the slippery Good Years RSA.

LOL!!! I'm dyin' here dude!!! You're too damn funny......I waffle like that all time, but I usually don't admit to it on the Internet! Will you have them in time for Cali Speedway on the 17th or are they still backordered?

I doubt that I'm going to have the SSR's in time, because I had tire discount store order them. I think tire discount (www.tires.com) and tirerack have some sort of relationship in distribution. I was told it would be available in 2 weeks, but that's like 7/16/04 when tirerack receive it.

I have to settle with the stock 17' wheels and Slippery Years. However, I don;t think the stock rims are that heavy, but the narrow 6" and Bad Years don't help alot in traction.

Otherwise, I'm pretty much running close to stock on the 17th. Other than my Mopar Duals.

Nice pics to view. Definetly gives me an idea how 18x8, 35 mm offset looks.

I ordered the SSR's through America Discount Store, and I think they have some sort of distribution agreement between them. The first stock of the 17x7.5 SSR Competitions were to arive at 7/16/04 for tirerack.com, but I read the tirerack.com website and now the date has been moved 8/02/04. Hopefully that's the date for a 2nd shipment, but I have a feeling the SSR's where delayed.

I defintely wanted to try these on a track, and see how much difference there is reducing the unsprung weight for each rim about 7lbs. I think the factory OEM rims weight about 20lbs, since they are 195 Prime wheels (17x7 weighs 21lbs.).

GT rims are 17x6, I figured they should be roughly 20 lbs.
