Here's what I received back today from a query to Akebono tech support on whether their ACT841 pads would fit the front of the
GT cruiser.
In my email to them, I had mentioned that different calipers were definitely used on GT and Standard Cruisers and that I understood there to be at least a thickness difference between the GT and Cruiser pads. I also noted that NAPA had a listing for front ceramic pads on the standard Cruiser, but had no pads listed as available for the GT Cruiser.

Akebono response:
Thank you for your interest in Akebono ProACT Ultra Premium Ceramic Brake Pads. Â*The part number you need for the front pads on you PT Cruiser is an ACT841. Â*The calipers are different, but the pads are the same. Â*I show Chrysler actually has 3 pad part numbers, I am not sure of the specific application of each, but they are all physically the same size, shape, and dimension. Â*Many times multiple part numbers exist because over the life of a vehicle because the manufacturer will source parts from different suppliers, this is done for a number of reasons: dual source to ensure availability; contract (price/length issues); they may also actually use a slightly different friction material. Â*As an Aftermarket company we service all of these with one part number ACT841.
I am confused about your reference to NAPA, they have several different product lines, but all are actually the same base part number 7716, they change prefix and suffix depending on grade and type, metallic, semi-metallic, ceramic, etc.
We do not offer rear pads for this vehicle, so I don't have any information to provide you there, and for that I apologize.
I hope I answered all of your questions, if not please don't hesitate to ask for further clarification.

As others have apparently done already, to get away from the severe brake dust problem, I will be installing some Akebono ceramic pads on the front of my GT. I hope this post helps to clarify some misunderstandings on fitting front ceramic pads to the GT Cruiser.
