Default Wheel Hop

What is the best way you PTer's have found to help or eliminate wheel hop. Is it lowering springs, coil overs, motor mount bushings or inserts? Kind of getting a little annoyed trying to launch and having my front end skip around for me. I am still running the stock tires if that matters.

Motor mounts

The stock tires are junk. I've got Toyo Proxes 4 tires now and they grip the road so much better.

I was having problems with broken motor mounts. I replaced them using the Psi-Fi mounts.

It totally stopped my wheel hop but did produce more vibration.

Thanks for your help. I did the search and came up with those postings I just wanted to also know if anyone tried both the inserts and ended up getting the mounts and liked them better or vice versa, but I am now convinced I need something. I can deal with a little vibration at idle.

I'll hopefully be putting in the REX MM inserts this week and going to the track this weekend. I'll post my opinion later. [8)]

So, good ole Rex Scates is making inserts for the Cruiser motor mounts?? I met Rex a couple of years back at Neon 2000, definately a different kind of dude. But his inserts work...

not specifically for the Cruiser. Same inserts as the 2000+ Neon. I put them in the other day. A rubber mallet and a few whacks later, in they go. Tomorrow is Import/Domestic Sport compact day at the track. Gonna give those inserts a workout. Hopefully we'll be having fried rice for lunch [8)]

Did you have to use any kind of adhesive? I thougth I read a post about them slipping out. Let us know how they work out. They seem to be a qood quick fix.

Cal, I didn't use adhesive, but did think about it. I'm keeping an eye on them to see if they slip around or not. I've got about a 100 miles or so on them now, and they haven't moved. I think the dealer would frown on aftermarket inserts. So I may fill in or level the voids with JB window weld or some other type of BLACK filler. Then the only way to tell the inserts are there would be to take out the MM and inspect them. Results will be posted tomorrow! [8)]

I just did a couple of 1/4 mile runs today. Experienced alot of wheel hops, so it looks like I'll be investing in motor mounts in the future.

OurPTGT...well??? We're waiting on your results.
