changing to winter rims today, the front drivers side was frozen to the hub/rotor, what caused this, and how to avoid it, it was a bitch to get off, beat it with a hammer, and a peice of wood no luck, as the saying goes get a bigger hammer : )

When installing wheels or when rotating your wheels clean the hub and wheel mounting surfaces well. Wire brush and use scotch brite pad( do not use sand paper and I do not recommend the use of power tools unless you know what your doing), wipe it clean and brush on some anti-seize compound. Use a copper based compound not aluminum based.
Your probably going to have problems getting the rotor off too, same as above when doing the brakes. ![]() |

I agree. Since you are switching to winter rims, you are probably in a salt belt state. Your rotors already started to corrode, and when you put the aluminum wheels on, they just corroded to the wheel. When that happens at work, I use a dead blow hammer. It works noooiice. [

I noticed the brake rotors and hubs seem to be very rust suseptible and I can imagine what goes on where snow and salt are prevalent.[xx(]
