Default Aftermarket Rotors, recomendations?

Guys,

long story short, I had a close encounter with a curb and bent the rim into the rotor and it appears the rotor disk snapped from the hub.

What I need some input on is do I buy one new OEM rotor, or buy a new aftermarket pair from ebay or other? The price off ebay seems fair. Then I can upgrade the pads at the same time.

Any recomendations would be appreciated as I am going to have to pick up one quickly,

Mike

yikes thats quite an encounter. i would think that the wheel bearing could be damaged but guess youll have to road test it to be sure.
I wish they werent so damn heavy i have 2 rotors that i honed, coated and shelved and i could send them to you but shipping costs would be prohibitive.

Give ebay a shot, the prices are reasonable. Brembo makes replacement rotors. I am partial to the ceramix pads from Napa have them on the G35, quiet and dust free!! Tried EBC on a honda but they were noisy.

Just to let you know that the NAPA pads are made by Raybestos and are the same pads they sell.

Didn't know that! I got the Raybestos ceramic pads about 2 years ago.
I think MX-5 said NAPA has rotors with better steel than stock - tho I think he said they have a couple that vary in metallurgy with price, so get the best - that's what I'm gonna get.

Do a search for Kirby. He installed some aftermarket pads and rotors and was very happy with the set up.

NAPA offers two rotors the cheap ones from china and the better one that are made by raybestos. Also the ceranmic pads napa sells are the same as the raybestos....they make them for NAPA.

Thanks all. I ended up finding PowerSlot rotors on ebay for under $200 delivered, so I went with those.

The EBC from TireRack were a close 2nd, they come dimpled and slotted, and have matching 'green stuff' pads, but the pads are not ceramic, but some organic mix. The price on the EBC are less also.

The parts should be arriving early next week, will let you know how it all goes back together,

Mike

These powerslot rotors, are they meant for the GT? They are different from the regular PT's. They can also be obtained cheaper if you get SRT-4 rotors, since it is the same exact thing.

Big Tommy,

I actually ended up with EBC slotted a dimpled rotors from tirerack for $160 delivered. The Ebay'r that I tried to get the PowerSlots from dropped the ball and never shipped. They did make a complete refund.

Tirerack.com does have a specific listing for the touring turbo, and the rotors went on fine, with no problems,

Mike
