I think I will go with the Goodyear Eagle F1. Not a big Goodyear fan but the F1 looks like what I really need in an all season non snow tire for So. Calif! And it comes in a replacement size too! It out wears the Michlein Pilot. Only downsides are the high price and mediocer wear but if I can get 25,000 miles I will be happy. Any thoughts?

SteelBlueGT....Yes on the Eagle F1. Not only are they top performing but they are tops in comfort and noise too.
A while back I saw an article in Consumer Reports rating high performance tires. They had the Eagle F1 at the top just beat out slightly by Continental ContiSport 2. However, TireRack rates the Eagle F1 head and shoulders over the Continentals. I think TireRack probably knows quite a bit more about tires than Consumer Reports.

This may sound like a stupid question but...

At http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com , when you call up the PT Cruiser Turbo GT, it shows the g-Force T/A KDW-2, but adds...

"This tire is an alternate size, but will fit your vehicle. However you may need to purchase new wheels."

This tire and the Goodyear RS-A are both 205/50R17, so how can you know before you buy whether or not these tires will fit the stock GT wheels???

Thanks.

Not a stupid question. The text you quote from the Goodrich site appears to be the result of a stupid piece of programming. Their comment is based solely on the fact that it carries a higher speed rating than the RS-A (Y vs H). The tire is the same size as the Goodyear RS-A and has the same load rating (93). It will fit.

[:I]
Well, not knowing any better, I've decided to get the BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2.

It seems to be better than the Goodyear RS-A in tread life, and less expensive to buy.

In addition to being a better value, it does have the higher speed rating of 186 mph compared to the 130 mph of the RS-A, and have you seen the tread pattern? Man, that looks mean!

Thanks to you all for your help and advice! This is a great group!

I think you made a great choice. Please keep us informed of how well you like this tire over the stock ones. I think almost any performance tire will outperform our stock tires in all categories!
