The tire size calc says 3.3mm taller side wall height and rim width range 7.5-9 in. so there is a potential for wear problems but I doubt any saftey issues as long as they are properly inflated. They look really nice too. they take up a bit more room in the wheel well which PT's have a lot of in stock spring trim. What is also nice is you're not quite going as fast as your speedo says so tickets will be easier to avoid!

ptgt I just installed 225/45/17 on my gt and it is the worst thing that I could have ever done. It is like driving on marshmellows evan at 50psi. Handling sucks, going in a straight line with these tires sucks, that size of tire on a stock Gt wheel just sucks. I am a very aggresive driver. I drive many winding roads and some fast straights these tires just feel unsafe. I would highly recommend returning the tires for a stock size. I'm returning mine for stock size bfgs cause goodyears also suck. Good luck. One other thing, it took 80psi to get the tires to seat correctly on the wheel did them myself.

Thanks for this input. I suspected something like this. I am glad someone that drives aggresively actually tried it and reported in. Not that I am glad you had problems...you know what I mean. We learn from our community of mistakes.

What type of tires are you running? That will have a big impact on how your car feels on the road.

Good job Racer. Based on my experiences with cars in the 1960's and 70's with narrow rims, I would have expected that but my experience is so old that I hate to make those assumptions. Having rolled the oversized left front tire off the rim on my Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV under high speed cornering resulting in rolling the car on its roof, I don't take rim widths for granted.
