Default tried to replace wheels today....

as the title says, i tried to replace the stock 17's with my aftermarket 18x8.5 's. Needless to say, THEY DON'T FIT. They're 18" Giovanna Corsica chromes, a really nice wheel with bf goodrich scorcher t/a drag radials. The back of the wheel spoke rubs the out side edge of the brake caliper, meaning the caliper sticks out from the outer side by atleast an extra 2mm in comparison to the n/a 2.4L. Any one else have these probs??? It's an easy fix with some H&R hub spacers regardless, it's just a real pain...

that sucks.. you should have asked the shop what offset would fit the pt.. like you said with the spacers it is all good but would be nice if you were going to spend that much money for those rims if they would have fit with out spacers.. you should put some pics up on here..

I had not heard for sure that the rears would not fit but I was aware that the front disc brakes on the GT were large enough that the PT 16" wheels would not work so a different offset is obviously required.

Here's a silly question: If there are clearance issues, does the Turbo have a special spare tire?

yeah, these 18's were off of my 2001 N/A, and they fit great on that, not too big or too small but HEAVY!!! I was thinking of going with either 10mm or 12mm H&R Spacers, but i have one concern. With a BIG drop, i wonder if the tires are going to tuck into the wheel wells. If so, i won't be able to run spacers that are too big, or they will rub the fenders, oh well i'll try it anyways...

I had issues rubbing the BRAKES ! Good thing I noticed. As for the weight...those stock 17s were about 10lbs heavier (each)than these new 18s. Isnt there some sort of ratio about removing weight from teh drivetrain? For every lb you save, its like taking 20 or 50 off the body?

Hey guys my son works for Discount Tire Co. I had him check on the correct offset for wheels. He said that most of the KMC wheels in the fwd offset will work. He just put Huge wheels on an 03 Turbo here in Battle Creek. 18x8.5 235/40/18 Front and 20x9 245/35/20 in the rear. He used my car for the test fit man they are huge and clear everything. I will have him update the proper fitment and backspacing tommorrow for all of you.

P.S. The car is lowered 2in Front and 3in Rear.
