Default Autotrucktoys disappoitment

I recently ordered a shortie chrome antenna for my PT, when I installed it the chrome just flaked right off from the chrome nut. this item is made cheaply, I e mailed the shipper will see what he does. Gary

Gary,

Hopefully they'll make good on the part. Got my shorty from Moss Motors a couple years ago and chrome still holding up except for a very tiny bit of rust right under the bullet shaped top.

Rust should not form on a true Chrome plated part. Are you sure it isn't billet alluminum? Maybe there is regular metal under that bullet shaped top that was not chrome plated.

I order stuff from them all the time, never been disapointed yet. Maybe you just got a bad one. That chrome plated stuff is delicate though. If it flaked off on the nut part, you may want to use a sort cloth or rag underneath your wrench or what ever tool you are using when tightening down. That's what I do so I don't scratch the car bodies paint or chip off and chrome.

That's exactly what mine has done Carey.

Your right. Went to the Moss Motors (CruiserBits.com) website and it's listed under "Billet"..also says "Garanteed not to rust". Could sent it back I guess, but it's such a small spot that I'll just stick with it...I guess the judges never see it, I keep bringing home the trophies.

Why not just remove the rust? There are polishes out there that can remove rust you know.

Yes, I know. I have closet/shelves full of almost every imaginable polish, wax, cleaner and restorer available. As I said it's a very small spot right at the bottom of the tip of the antenna and no-one would even notice it if I didn't point it out. It's not growing in size and the rest of the antenna sparkles enough to hide it so I'll just leave it be.
