joepad, I also have had Blane's struts for about a year, it was my first mod, and am very satisfied.

Can we assume you still have the stock hood, or have you modified it in any way. I understand your frustration, but have not seen any other postings with your problem.

Joepad, I appreciate you mentioning your problems. It may just be an isolated problem or that others may have had the same problem and just failed to mention it to anyone else. This would make future buyers be more aware of Blanes struts. I chose the Revel hood struts, for the price. But when I get them, I will examine them closely if I have any similar problems with them.

I also have the Blane hood struts for over a year now, and its one of the easiest, and best mods possible. And never a problem from install and over a year later and would recommend them again and again

I guess since I haven't posted much either this may not carry any weight, but I have been reading this and other PT forums for nearly a year now, posting when I have valid information or experience to share, but mostly learning from others about my beloved PT. I purchased Blanes struts after reading all the positive feedback on them, but...just to confirm joepads post, I too had an issue with a strut rubbing the cowl, found just 1 week after the install. Granted, hood tolerances may be the culprit, but this along with other post-purchase negatives makes me one of the minority that isn't over the top happy with the product.

Not to be a smartass or anything, when you did the install of the hood shocks, didn't you notice of the potential problem in the beginning, or was there?

One thing I found was the base that fastens on the side of the car was mis-marked, didn't quite look like the instructions sheet. I then reversed them and mounted the base. I did inform Blane about the mistake, he thanked me.

Have had many compliments on the look!!!!

Very satisfied with mine. Probably one of my favorite things I did that I just take for granted every time I open the hood. Have not had problem one. I would buy another set if I had a place to put them.

JoePad:

Man --I am really sorry to hear about your problem. I would check the hinge mounts/alignment. I've installed 2 sets on both of my PT's, and couldn't be happier. Absolute perfect fit and operation over the past several months.Though expensive compared to others, the simplicity/look is tops. Hope you can resolve this.

Good Luck!
